She may be an A-list movie star, but Keira Knightley gives herself an annual allowance of only $50,000 to live on.
Its something around that, the 29-year-old British actress told Glamours July issue. I mean, if I want or need something that goes over that, I get it, but, yes, around that.
But why so little to begin with? Keira Knightley Reveals Why She Was Bullied for Wearing
I think living an [expensive] lifestyle means you cant hang out with people who dont live that lifestyle, Knightley told the magazine. It alienates you. Some of my best, most hilarious times have been in the least luxurious places.
Knightley has already shown the world her thrifty side, when she repurposed a favorite Chanel dress to wear for her wedding to rocker James Righton last year.

There is no way that she lives on anything remotely like $50,000 per year. Monthly, perhaps.
“One has to like her for that attitude “
Her: I mean, if I want or need something that goes over [the $50,000], I get it, Knightley said.
Well that makes it a little easier....
Makeup and cigarettes cost a lot.
“It wouldn’t cover the taxes. I think she’s using celebrity math. “
I think it covers her coffee and doorman tips.
The annual property tax on that house in CA would be $65,000 a year.
I don’t understand why you are so upset at her. It’s her money, she can do with it as she likes. She is saying that she likes to keep herself on a budget so that she can continue to have fun with her friends that don’t have the kind of money she has.
But you seem offended that 1) she has the kind of money she does 2) she doesn’t restrict herself the way YOU think she should and 3) that she is willing to talk about it.
I’m glad she has that kind of money to have a life of leisure, it’s what everyone in a capitalist society can aspire to.
That is, of course, if we all pass your standards and approval, I guess.
Good flick.
One reason why:
Keira Knightley Banned From Pouting Lips In Pride and Prejudice By Director
What’s with all this propaganda that living poor is somehow “liberal cool”? Seems as people are suffering financially because of the liberal policies of Obama and the Democrats across this nation, they want to claim being poor is cool.
Keira is a lying sack of bones if she thinks we believe she lives on $50,0000 per year.
I’m a Southern California Coast, contractor, maintaining a 6.5 million dollar home is expensive, water, electricity, gas, contractors, landscapers, maids, pool men, visiting those homes during the work day is like visiting a small commercial business, the hustling and bustling seems to never stop.
Her $86,000 car would be costly to pay for and maintain as well, and she may own more than one vehicle.
Anyone care to guess what her grocery and wine bills look like, with organic this and that and Whole Foods Arugula, and the furnishings in her 6.5 million dollar home, inside and outside? The stuff and tools in her pool room and garages, pet maintenance, makeup, clothing, shoes, and the restaurant and order out, and entertainment and travel bills?
In her world, a $20.00 bill doesn’t go far, tips alone should be eating up a sizable chunk of $50,000, what about birthdays and Christmas for family, friends, and business and industry connections?
This thread has fallen into the ridiculous. When a person has millions of dollars of disposable cash, and they decide that they will only drop $1,000 a week on shopping, eating out, hanging out with friends, they (the person with millions of dollars of disposable cash) will likely refer to themselves as “living on” $50,000 a year.
It isn’t the same as having a job that earns $50,000 a year, but I think people with a reasonable sense of reality will be able to grasp the difference without getting all stupid about it.
She gives herself $1,000 a week in walking around money. It’s smart of her. It keeps her attentive to what she is spending. It will keep her with that kind of walking around money for decades to come even if she never gets another job.
If I was a millionaire, $50,000 would just about cover my single-malt scotch expense.
She looks fine in that photo, but I’m sure you had to dig through plenty of scrawnier looking photos to find that one.
< /snort!>
She doesn’t eat much.
Yeah, it must be nice for her though. All she needs to do if she wants to go incognito is comb them to the side, and she doesn’t have to worry about fans and paparazzi dogging her :)
... or spend much on her wardrobe.
