The American people have been given a lot of bad information about the link between saturated fat, cholesterol, and heart disease. This misinformation is slowly being corrected, and more research is being done in the area, but most medical organizations still recommend low-fat diets as heart healthy.
We consume a lot less fats, and as a result, a lot more carbohydrates. (An unintended side effect: This diet has been blamed for the large increase in type 2 diabetes in our society over the last few decades.)
I predict that in 10 years the medical profession will make yet another dietary U-turn, and finally acknowledge that dietary fats actually have little to do with heart disease, let alone weight loss. It has already happened with hydrogenated fats, which doctors used to recommend as heart healthy but are now acknowledged as a major contributor to heart disease.

I would stock up on some organic virgin coconut oil and grass fed butter. . .not to mention diatomaceous earth (food grade) and silver biotics!
hear, hear! i eat real fats... olive oil, coconut oil, bacon.. rib-eye, salmon, tuna, butter, Greek yogurt, avocado, nuts... i am not overweight, i do not have high cholesterol nor hypertension... i find real fats to be good for my skin... keep me looking younger... i stay away from artificial sweeteners, diet drinks, well—diet anything... no margarine or other chemically produced fats for me... give me honest-to-goodness, real fats :)
I don’t think anybody knows what’s going on ... :-) ...
I snack on pork rinds daily, and eat meat for dinner every night.
I'm having to get rid of all my size 40 and 42 pants, and 3XL shirts!
GTH, you gluten-free, vegan, CommieLib, hipster jack wagons.
Scouts Out! Cavalry Ho!
I’m having to get rid of all my size 40 and 42 pants, and 3XL shirts!
Can’t imagine what that’s like. Must feel pretty darn good. I’m just trying to give up the smoking...that’s bad enough!
In a blender, combine a cup of hot coffee with a teaspoon of that butter and a tablespoon of that coconut oil. Blitz a few seconds until the mixture is frothy on top. Bulletproof coffee. Enjoy!
This low fat diet bs with carbo loading everyday is another left wing dangerous act of bs shoved down our throats like Gorebull Warming.
I had a foot injury a year ago, and my daily walks went from a couple of miles each day to zero. I had surgery in September, and I'm about 80% recovered.
Besides not exercising, I went on the lib/gov diet with the carb loads and cut down on meat.
With these negatives I gained about 15% over my normal weight.
In 5 weeks after going on a Paleo diet with minimal carbs, I have lost 12% of my weight, and I'm not hungry. My wife keeps fresh fruit and veggies and a bowl of plain walnuts out for snacks.
We eat salmon, pacific cod, halibut, dorado/Mai-Mai, roasted chicken, barbequed chicken/steaks/pork tenderloins and a steak once a week.
My wife's multiple water troughs, garden provides greens/kale, arugula, and tomatoes. Her figs are coming.
We buy local strawberries, blue berries and the fruit in season
I know!!!!! Sometimes I even put some (over 70%) dark chocolate in it.
Just another reason to believe all the dietary advice that government gives out.....(Do I really need to add a sarcasm tag?)
I subscribe (free) to Dr. Mercola’s daily newsletter. It is rather informative. I have to pick and choose those items applicable to me. For example, I haven’t begun to urinate in the garden . . . yet. Anyway he has some excellent and quite interesting topics. There is also information on the site for pets. http://www.drmercola.com/
Just exactly why do I need kitty otter?? I recognize the other things as being pushed by certain types (ahem Alex) but what the heck is the kitty litter for?
Good for you!! I've been losing my "winter weight" the last two months and am down 22 pounds. Was in size 44 waist, am down to a 40, goal is to get back into 36's.
I stopped the carbs, quit drinking beer (the hardest part, I love a good beer!) and have been bicycling. Last Sunday did 30 miles in just under 2 hours. When I started 6 weeks ago I couldn't do 5 miles.
What a difference it's made! Sleeping better, more energy and am happy that the weight scale reads a little less every week.
Wife asked me why I quit drinking beer (I like a beer or two every day, unfortunately drinking these "craft" beers and belgian blondes are very high in calories!)
I responded "I like losing weight more than I do drinking beer.
food grade dte? Why food grade?
A good diet with fresh fruits and vegetables, whole grains, protein from meat and fish, natural anti oxidants like red wine and garlic and healthy oils like olive and canola oil is what makes sense to me. Sure a nice steak or fast food burger is OK once in a while. Limit your intake of processed foods and sugars (in my opinion high fructose corn syrup is nasty stuff and should be avoided), drink lots of water, limit your intake of salt, but a salt free diet is not necessary and get some exercise. Check with your doctor about your weight, to treat any other problems like high blood pressure and screen you for common cancers.
Heredity is a big factor in my opinion. My father ate lots of red meat, didn't exercise and smoked cigars yet lived to be 96 without any heart or cancer issues. Ditto for my mother's 99 year old sister.
Kitty Litter. . .are you referring to diatomaceous earth? I would put it among the “end times” must haves but use it now.

There are different kinds i.e. DE for swimming pools
It's not just what you eat, it's how much you eat, and most importantly the number of calories in versus the number out. It takes more energy to convert proteins to available cellular energy, and this is one of the reasons why a high protein diet can lead to weight loss. There are other factors, clearly. I'm happy your blood pressure and A1C are down. There are most directly the consequence of the weight loss. Congratulations to you. Keep it up.
Good points. . I use to use canola oil, too until I found out the bad news about it. Also, I also researched the olive oils and not all are alike. You might take a look at the information regarding the various oils.
I was a primary care giver for years and my health took a nose dive. . .decided I needed to pray about it, revisited my diet and nutritional intake (did not go to the doctors) and everyone I know remarks that I look better.
I have a friend and a physician that has been saying this to me for years. He also advised me long ago to throw out my “dangerous” statins,
