I have a lot of friends who are Democrats. A lot. Having spent my entire adult life in the entertainment industry and much of it living in Los Angeles, that is just a fact of life.
Back in olden times (the 1990s), the Democrat politicians in Washington seemed to be much like the people who elected them. They also went about business in a way that was rather normal, if not to my particular ideological liking. This was all due to the fact that the extreme progressive hippies hadnt completed the takeover of the party that they had begun in the 1970s.
Patient lot, these hippies.
Now the fix is in and the Left-of-Castro wing of the Democratic party is fairly well in control and dystopia is upon us. The people who began their political lives by expressing an overwhelming hatred of all things government have done a 180 and now embrace the egregious use of the federal monster to the point it almost seems like a fetish. Its sort of like the no bigger smoking nag than an ex-smoker thing in reverse.
With a stealth progressive in the White House the fully armed and operational battle government has been deployed for purely political reasons in ways that should give any regular citizen pause.

“With a stealth progressive in the White House”
Not a ‘stealth’ progressive. A white-washed Marxist.
“That’s a feature, not a bug.”
I find people to be uninformed now and uninformed 20 years ago.
We could elect hitler in 2016 and no one would know we did it.
And that goes for the left and right and center.
Have you seen the polls and voting trends of the last few years? The Average American IS a far left loon. THAT is the problem.
Our Republic is lurching Left at the speed of light.
Many wouldn’t know about the leftism of their party, but it wouldn’t concern them too much if they did know. After all, it’s “democracy” they seek.
Is this author serious?? "Regular" Democrats -- that is, those who still believe in American traditions and values -- have not existed for at least 25 years. And Democrats in power have not been "benevolent agents" since at least the 1930s. Combine these two myths and what do you have? Exactly what we see today: the entire "Democrat party" is nothing but a kinder, gentler name for Marxism/communism/despotism/tyranny.
I can answer that - NO!!!
At least with my parents. They are FDR Democrats, the same FDR that got us out of the Depression and won WW2. Then they gave us Kennedy. Nothing after that matters to them, the simply don’t see it. But damn, if they don’t DESPISE Republicans.
Thankfully, with the exception of my parents (LOL), these Democrats are going bye-bye relatively soon, hence the need to replace them with Amnesty.
“I have a lot of friends who are Democrats.”
There was your very first mistake, Mr. Kruiser! You have dim friends.
When I find out that someone I know is left-leaning I drop them like hot potatoes. I also tell them outright why I do not want them around me or mine.
“the same FDR that got us out of the Depression and won WW2.”
I disagree. WW2 got us out of the Depression, not FDR. Without WW2 the USA would have been experiencing the Depression as long as FDR was in office.
No, they do not. I know Dems who go ballistic over Affirmative Action, with no idea that their party couldn’t exist without it.
The average Democrat does not care what their leaders say and do as long as they get some gravy.
Yes, and approve of it.
You mean the FDR that EXTENDED the Depression and gave away the store after WWII?
bump
>> The average Democrat does not care what their leaders say and do as long as they get some gravy.
Sadly true.
Some are learning it. There are an awful lot run of the mill democrats than you may think. All you have to do is count the number of people on Prozac and Zanax and you’ll have half the democratic party.
Unfortunately yes, as long as it’s not “Republican”.
They don’t care. All that’s important to them is that their government paychecks and their government disability checks arrive on the first business day of every month.
