I love cats and have cats. After a year, a cat won’t remember you at first. Mine were always skittish towards me after a long absence or deployment.

Not so! I got divorced and the ex got the cat. I had not seen Costello for at least four years and when I visited the ex to see him he knew me immediately, rubbing all over me and purring up a storm. I was so broken hearted to have to leave him. He lived to the ripe old age of 21 years. I saw him last at eighteen years and he was still able to jump up in my arms and on the back fence of my ex’s yard.

So adorable. I was getting as excited as the cat for him to open the door, LOL.
