The Roman Catholic archbishop of San Francisco said Monday its his duty to proclaim the truth about marriage as the conjugal union of husband and wife, even when those views are unpopular.
The comment by Archbishop Salvatore Cordileone came in response to a coalition of liberal politicians, fellow clergy and gay-rights leaders who have urged him to skip an upcoming March for Marriage event in Washington.
Cordileone, who chairs the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops subcommittee on the promotion and defense of marriage, is a scheduled speaker at Thursdays march and rally sponsored by the National Organization for Marriage and other groups opposed to same-sex marriage.

Now deny Piglosi communion
Can’t believe Pelosi and others are lecturing clergy on the theology of their religion when it comes to marriage and family. These leftists are nuts.
The brown shirt rat-bastards are loose in the land.
I cannot imagine that this is controversial... what planet is this?
Planet San Francisco Pelousy. 3.5 planets from the sun.
Good for the Cardinal!!
Why he has not suspended Nazi’s communion privilege is beyond me.
Does the catholic church still burn witches ?
No. They do however exorcise demons occasionally. Pissy Piilousy seems an evil enough to at least attempt an exorcism.
Finally, a bishop that lives Jesus’s word. Jesus took marriage very seriously, and for all practical purposes, very strictly, between a man an woman.
On the other hand, my bishop gave communion through the border fence to illegals on the other side wanting to cross.
Last week, I glared at him, and I had to keep praying to stop feeling such hostility to him during Mass.
I wanted to scream at him: “You’re tempting them to sin. For shame!”
I couldn’t concentrate on worshiping God.
Instead, I said to him after Mass, “You are a good shepherd. You knew all the confirmation candidates by name.”
It seemed he scoffed at me.
I should have screamed at him. “You’re not a bishop. Your an agent provocateur for the state.”
Classic
I won’t hold my breath on that one. She probably “gives” a lot to the archdiocese.
Thank God for His people that stand for Him rather than bow to politics.
My guess is the SF Diocese is a cesspool and snake pit
It takes time to legally reorganize/retire/reassign/remove/fire there, and the Bishop does not want to be abandoned like Nienstedt was in MN.
A priest (or Bishop) giving the body of Christ to faithful Catholics for their spiritual health is his duty (even to those in prison). I would hope no one would scream at him for that!
Denying Communion to the likes of Pelosi is a different matter however because she publicly spits in the face of the Church by her words and deeds. She should not be given the Eucharist. Illegals wanting to get over here aren’t spewing anti-Catholicism. That’s the difference.
Courage...obedience...fidelity...
The bishop from Tucson and a bishop from Massachusetts where on the American side of the border giving communion to people on the other side, through the chained link. It was staged to look like only by given passage to the other side would they survive spiritually. As if the the Mexican border towns did not have priests or communion.
I would love to have communion myself, but I married a divorce man who is not Catholic. I do not begrudge people communion for their spiritual health, but I do begrudge a bishop who is working against Christ who wants to give it to them.
Illegals wanting to get over here are fine with people like Pelosi enabling them, though.
