People do not want to watch or think about bad things, people want to forget that, and yes, at the end there comes again that famous it cannot happen to us idea.
Do you really think that when (not if) SHTF events would be much different in your part of the world? Do you think that when collapse happens, you and people around you in your town will be somehow able to organize food distribution, security and safety for residents, and all those criminals and sick bastards will somehow disappear, and there is going to be new better society? Are you under the influence of movies and you think that good guys win almost always and that there is justice and sense in everything?

I’d love to try some roasted over wood. I’m pretty particular about my chili. Only sausage and Hamburg.
Now that the Sunday School portion of the thread is over, maybe we can absorb Selco's admonition in this article.
Don't let Normalcy Bias be your reason for dying.
I remember our teacher now. He has stated that our founding fathers are guilty of the sin of rebellion. I remember asking him if he had freely repented by renounced by his US Citizenship and pledging his allegiance to the House of Windsor. He never answered me.
Luke 22:36
He said to them, “ But now if you have a purse, take it, and also a bag; and if you don’t have a sword, sell your cloak and buy one”...
Why do I have the feeling that Sta Traveler is the type that will show up empty-handed demanding something because it’s God’s will?
I remember that thread.
Absent any other plan, the only thing you're going to be prepared for is death (not that that isn't important).
One Sunday morning last December, I woke up to no electricity due to an ice storm.
With no electricity, my furnace didn’t run, my stove didn’t heat, and my well pump didn’t run.
Based on past experience, I didn’t expect to get electricity restored for a week.
The temperature outside was below freezing.
What would have been an appropriate scripture verse for me in that situation?
Probably so.
Still, it’s a shame this thread was hijacked (and I freely admit to helping feed the troll) Better to ignore it next time.
Selco’s blog is so helpful, because of his real (and recent) experiences. He shares such great insight into real human nature. The biggest lesson I’ve taken from his writings is that normalcy bias will get you dead pretty quickly, and all the preps in the world won’t save you if you aren’t paying attention to the warning signs.
>>Fishing for me...especially in my location.<<
Do you have a gill net?
I’d vote to get a 50 foot one and store it. You can use pieces of wood for the floats. Think about putting it out as the sunsets and retrieving it before the sun rises. That way there won’t be competition for the haul and it will give you a chance to get the catch off the shoreline.
Great advice.
I had been told to fish in teams with one armed and facing shore looking for trouble! I guess, I was surprised that they had made plans to do that. Not living near me so I could not ask to join their group...I have to go it alone.
NO neighbors who believe anything but Normalcy Bias.
