Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Daniel S. Murphy reversed a ruling from Monday that stated that Kasem should receive food, fluids and certain medications until after a court-appointed attorney met with the former radio host and his doctors.
Murphy reviewed additional medical records on Wednesday and concluded that Kasem would endure more pain if he was given food or fluids, attorney Troy Martin said. Martin, who represents Kasem's daughter Kerri, presented the updated information to Murphy during an emergency hearing.
He also presented the judge with documents in which Kasem stated he did not want his life prolonged by food or fluids if he was mentally incapacitated.

Terri was half his age and alert and aware. Casey Kasem will maybe just pass away during the battling. He wins and both sides lose.
Mikey’s attorney wrote the IPAB Death Panel portion of the health care act. Go to your reps if you ever need help.
He has infected bedsores and is in critical condition. His 3 children, brother, SiL and friend Gonzalo Venecia are there. He has a team of doctors. Again, I don’t know what to think.
Most people I have talked to, including myself and my wife who have had relatives in this situation have made the decision that if the person cannot sustain life on their own and are not even cognizant of their surroundings it is better to let them go on to the next life.
If is obvious you and others have a different opinion and some get into name calling. I have already been called an idiot. I respect your opinion but I don't necessarily agree with it.
For me I have told my wife to pull the plug so to speak if I am in that situation.
“The feeding tube can allow Alzheimers patients to not die of pneumonia and live longer.”

No thanks!
.
“Dehydration equals pain. Hydration is not facilitated w/a g-tube. You are projecting someone elses portrayal on Casey Kasem. Every person is different and you cannot assess Casey Kasem and dehydration equals pain.”
You are doing the exact same thing you are accusing me of doing.
Just because they aren’t on a feeding tube doesn’t mean they are dehydrated. You can still get some liquid to them to keep from dehydrating.
As a Hospice volunteer for over 30 years I think I know what I’m talking about. They aren’t going to let him suffer from dehydration even if they remove the feeding tube or let him suffer from any other kind of pain for that matter.
So no one, including you, knows the situation. I never claimed that I did. I was commenting on feeding tubes only.
What the hell is wrong with natural death?
Make Casey Kasem of Scooby Doo fame as well (one of my fave cartoons) comfortable and hydrate him. It sounds like hydration would be the humane thing to do and he'll die without the suffering of all the additional organ failure.
Bedsores are the absolute worst. People have no idea why patients are turned all the time and why they have special beds that are made to prevent bedsores.
Hope he dies naturally so both sides lose. Both sides have made mistakes imho and if scientology ends up with his money, they will be the big winners.
Is prolonging his life by extraordinary means going to lead to his full recovery or the inevitable, “failure to thrive” on his death certificate going to be pushed down the road by machine-driven feeding, breathing, heart-beating?
I’m looking into having an attorney write up that my husband, and I, have our care givers use the Catholic Catechism should we ever be in that position.
Horrifying.
Yes, but only in the narrow sense you were addressing. I know if you take another step back, and address the bigger picture, the whole picture, you'll agree that Scientology will be the big losers in the end. The money they kill for and steal in this life, will do them no good in the next.
We’re all going to die, but there is no excuse for withholding something as basic as food and water. There is no gray area between life and death. You are either alive or dead. As long as you’re alive, you should be treated as such. You’re entitled to food, water, pain relief, etc. You should be treated with compassion, not tortured to death. You should not be neglected and forgotten by your loved ones. You should not be forcibly removed from the caregiver who loves you, and deprived of whatever life you have remaining.
Your final days may not be as enjoyable as the earlier days, when you were active and vibrant, but they’re all you have left. They should not be thrown away, as though they have no value.
I’m talking about in this situation. They are a Ponzi scheme and also blackmail people who want to leave.
You’re so right. And if blackmail doesn’t work, they use threats. They’ll stop at nothing. Just ask Lisa McPherson. Except they killed her. Nevermind.
The devil attacks the weakest point. With scientologists, that’s their greed. A very common flaw.
