Video Shows Conn. Teen Begging Mass. Judge To Let Her Go Home
BOSTON (CBS) The family of a Connecticut teenager at the center of a custody dispute with the state of Massachusetts has posted a video showing the teen pleading for the judge to let her go home. The video shows Justina Pelletier asking Governor Patrick and Judge Joseph Johnston to let her move back with her family.
All I really want to be with is my family and my friends and thats all I want is to be with my family and friends back home, she says. You can do it. Youre the one thats judging this. Please let me go home.

This whole business is very strange. Does anyone have any idea why they are doing this, other than sheer bureaucratic insanity? I wouldn’t think any gravy they are getting for keeping her there could possibly match all the bad publicity for the state, the hospital, and the bureaucrats in question.
What’s interesting about this is the state is holding her for what they claim is mental treatment, basically having her involuntarily committed. Yet trying to get someone involuntarily committed nowadays who has real mental issues is basically impossible which is why we have all these mass shootings. So how are they doing this legally? I can’t see how, which exposes the state to a huge lawsuit
What this taught me was that if you ever take your kid to the hospital (especially in Mass.) and you strongly disagree with what you are hearing from the health care providors, then just nod and smile acting as if you agree with everything they say and once you get your kid out the door run and never come back.
Shes in CT now. why would Derval Ptrick have anything to do with her now? Is that an old video?
She’s still technically in the custody of Massachusetts Dept of Children and Families.
Boston Children's Hospital is trying to become the world center for the treatment of Somatoform Disorder, a fancy new term for Munchausen by Proxy Syndrome. The have dozens of experts on it on their staff.
When you have a hammer, everything is a nail.
When you have a bunch of experts on some condition, everybody has that condition.
The State will decide what is best for your child. You are parents. You are Obsolete!
Where’s her congresscritter? or are they “Rat beholden?
‘So how are they doing this legally? I cant see how, which exposes the state to a huge lawsuit’
If the parents ever get their child back, watch out for the mother of all lawsuits. I hope the parents clean up, too. Teach the bureaucrats not to put other children & parents through this hellish ordeal.
If the gov of Ct says you can’t have her back? Not that that spineless lib would but if?
We in MA have been wondering for months why the Gov and/or legislature of CT haven’t done anything . . . I guess they’re in the running to be as bad as MA.
Seems odd is all. I would think the 2 governors had an understanding before the transfer was made. Of course Malloy wouldn’t want that known since hes facing a tough election.
Zat vill not happen. Ve own you now, ja!
Justina actually has mitochondrial disease, but when she went to the hospital in Massachusetts they said she didn’t, that it was all in her head and therefore her parents were medically abusing her by having her treated for it. Justina deteriorated once the Massachusetts hospital stopped the treatment she was receiving and stuck her in a mental hospital.
From an article about it....At Tufts, Justina had been treated for mitochondrial disease, a group of rare genetic disorders affecting cellular energy production. When Justina began experiencing some gastrointestinal problems, the Tufts doctor treating her, Dr. Mark Korson, wanted the girl to visit Dr. Alejandro Flores at Boston Children’s Hospital, according to the family’s attorney, Phil Moran. Flores had treated Justina in the past, Moran said, and Korson thought it beneficial for the teen to see a gastroenterologist.
Justina was taken by ambulance to Boston Children’s Hospital because she was in a wheelchair at the time and a heavy snowstorm was blanketing the region. To her family’s surprise, she was diagnosed with somatoform disorder — a mental condition in which a patient experiences symptoms that are real but have no physical or biological explanation.
The Pelletier family rejected the new psychiatric diagnosis and wanted to bring Justina back to Tufts. After tempers flared between the Pelletiers and staff at Boston Children’s, the hospital notified the state that it suspected the parents of medical child abuse.
The girl was kept at Boston Childrens psychiatric ward for nearly a year before being moved to the Wayside Youth and Family Support Network facility in Framingham, Mass.

My daughter’s friend has a little girl with mito in Indiana, may she never take her daughter to Boston Children’s Hospital.
It’s a famous hospital. But you’re right, you have to be very careful about these things.
