Vietnam veteran Gene Stoesser has been waiting nearly two months for an appointment with a Veterans Affairs doctor to schedule his heart surgery.
The 71-year-old former Marine from Glendale, Arizona, went to the emergency room at the VAs Phoenix hospital on April 28 with chest pains. He said he was told hed need surgery soon, but has yet to get an appointment.
They sent me home to die, Stoesser said Tuesday, surrounded by dozens of other veterans at a crisis center set up by the American Legion in downtown Phoenix in a first-of-its-kind event for the nations largest veterans group.
The move comes amid growing criticism of the VAs handling of patient care nationwide and allegations of misconduct, lengthy wait times and potential unnecessary deaths.

The rise of the American veterans’ own Tea Party.
It’s like it is 1775 all over again! Love it!
It is sickening to think of these veterans having to wait for medical care while the barbarian hoard of children illegally crossing our border will get free healthcare immediately.
Would they continue to dole out care to the illegals while the veterans were turned away?
Not to worry vets. The problems are all taken care of. Obama said he is tge maddest of all and will look in to it. Oh, and you’re all racists.
If the Legion did nothing to prevent this, how are they going to help now?
It’s like asking the AMA to fix Obamacare. Can’t be done.
They need a vet march on Washington.
Why would anyone lobby for heart surgery at the VA which is know for crappy care
