These pictures just cement that impression: Fat thighs, sloppy butt, vacant face, unhealthy appearance. Too much time around a lot of smokers and bars.

Well,,, I smoke too but not the same stuff you must be smoking.

She was sexy and yet still maintained an air of innocence.

She didn’t intimidate other women the way most other sexy women did. You felt you could be her friend, or you felt the need to protect her.

She had something that doesn’t come along too often, even if you can’t quite put your finger on it.

My passion is just fine. MM just always struck me as a woman who sometimes looked great and others times she looked average. I think too much is made of her. In any case the pictures seemed typical of her so I don’t know what the big deal is compared to all the other MM pictures we’ve all seen over the last 60 years.

I don’t think Twiggy was all that pretty for that matter, I just don’t like it that females who were not naturally endowed are ridiculed

= = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =

I wasn't meaning to ridicule Twiggy, I was just pointing out that we went from what all us 'virile young lads' thought was wholesome to super skinny.

Give me Joan or even Peggy(Mad Men) over the skinny, bone showing so called Models of the day.

Didn't 'they' call her 'Twiggy' cause it looked like a stiff breeze would 'snap her in half'?

.

Agree.

She deserved to marry a man she genuinely respected and loved ...

not for his titles or money ...

just for "him" ...

and then two of them settle down, raise four beautiful kids.

You forgot Susan Hayward and Lana Turner. Actresses were talented and beautiful then.

“She was the hottest bride on “Seven Brides For Seven Brothers.”

You are referring to Julie Newmar here. Not Marilyn Monroe. Yes, Julie was in “Seven Brides for Seven Brothers.”

Is that Merle Oberon? I remember seeing her in The Scarlet Pimpernel, and being amazed at her beauty.

I think you are correct. I always thought that the most attractive aspect of any woman was innocence, something you mentioned. With Marilyn, she could project innocence even when she was acting like a slut.

I am 38 years old. Among the actresses who were popular before my time, I rate Natalie Wood up at the top.
