Celebrex had a cousin that was removed for bad behavior, Vioxx(sp) and another cousin, too, but celebrex is still good. I asked my dr about it being fearful of heart attack with my being overweight, he said not to worry, more people die from Tylenol than celebrex. Celebrex is supposed to go generic very soon. It’s original patent expired late last year, but they get some kind of grace period to market their own generic or something like that, depending on which website you believe.

Tramadol does nothing for the inflammation, just pain, and thats what I need. A lot of anti-inflammation drugs do not play well together, some have that warning on them.

The glucosimine chondroiton does work and some drs do recommend it, but I was getting the triple strength kind and taking triple doses of that to get relief.

At this point in my arthritis situation, I don’t care what they give me or its side effects. I need relief. Now. Yesterday would be even better. /rant :)

No glucosimine (see my last post). Research Tumeric.

I hear your pain. As long as I can keep mine at low to moderate with heat treatments, that’s what I will do.

Though I might try the osteo bi flex since it has been shown to have some effect on slowing or reversing deterioration.

I do take 2 or 3 coated aspirins for my headaches, since I haven’t found heat or cold to be effective enough. I am going to get some peppermint essential oil to try though.

Like I said I’m a wuss when it comes to pain, but I also try to avoid meds as much as I can, especially if they are not generic. I figure the generic have been around long enough for all the bad news to have surfaced. LOL

R_D, you're think of Bextra, which was another very good medication to relieve arthritic pain. Truthfully, when I was working overseas, I loved Vioxx and Bextra. I was able to prescribe it to my guys and keep them on the job instead of having them go to narcotic analgesics and be sent home. I'm not a fan of how it was railroaded and removed from use.

I also use glucosamine/chondroitin, along with some heavy duty NSAIDS to relieve my chronic back pain. I don't believe in it, but they seem to work.

I'll be heading to my PCM next week to have an assessment and figure out a strategy to nip the problem in the bud before I can no longer walk.
