Thanks, I am on the mend with the feet problem. Got some inserts and some additional rubber mats for the kitchen processing areas, and making sure not to stand or walk too long at a time.
Just heard on Dr. Oz a few days ago that Congress is going to ok processing in China. Granny’s roosters were mean and they always tried to flog me.
I used to collect the eggs, and it was scary between the snakes and the roosters.
I wouldn’t raise chickens for any reasonw other than food safety and self reliance. Eggs that are deep yellow due to allowing free range are rich in Vitamin K2. This vitamin has been practically deleted from our diets due to the current factory methods of raising beef, pork, and chickens.
I usually put out tuna cans with beer for the slugs.
Glad to hear from you. Sounds like you and prissy are having a good time.
I like soups, but not so much for the chowder. I do like the New England style Clam chowder though and bean soups. Other than that I like the soups made with lots of broth. Like chicen noodle, vegetable, beef and veggies etc.
Will be trying a creamy radish soup sometime this week.
Same here. I told him to fix the polk if he wanted it, because I have too many other things to do. I don’t want to mess with it. Might do it for father’s day.
It took me about 5 years to get it all cleared up the last time I got it. Started with the Tide, and then my hands broke out.
Then the doctor gave me stuff that made it better, but it took a long time to go away completely, and everything seemed to irritate it. It was awful.
We have had good results with the hanging traps.
Hubby takes care of the traps for me. I don’t like to put any kind of chemicals on my stuff because I like the bees to live, and I don’t like to ingest pesticides.
Excercise is a powerful anit depressant, and it seems to work better outdoors.
I get some seafood/fish from Schwan. Most of the stuff we have available locally is frozen, and comes from Thailand or other Asian sources.
At least with Schwans, I can get some wild caught Alaskan Salmon and a few others of better quality.
I don’t know. Polk is all I have ever heard it called. My mother in law always just cooked it in bacon grease with seasonings. I’ll have to check out their family cookbook and see if any one ever submitted the recipe.
Oh No! I hate to hear that especially about the lemons. They take so long to mature.
Mosquitos aren’t too bad here yet. We are putting mosquito dunks in the pool and rain barrels. Sometimes, I float a little oil on top of the rain barrels.
Kills most of the stuff you don’t want hatching in them.
Our ice cream man was absent for several weeks. Just showed up last Friday. He almost died from tick bite. Hubby wasn’t sure whether it was Lyme disease or what.
I have had trouble with corn seed germination this year too for some reason. Sounds like the rest of the garden is doing well.
That is a definite problem with bone meal. That’s why they always tell you not to put bones in your compost too.LOL
It’s really been a bad year for our gardening. The only thing standing proud is the pepper crop.
Loosing the lemons hurt. I’ve been trying to get lemons for about 6yrs. Last year was our first and only lemon out of 2 trees.
I am thinking of taking next year off and just building the soil and letting it rest. The very few tomatos we have, I lean to picking them and pulling the stalks up and laying in the compost, giving it plenty of time to work, then adding more next winter.
We actually have physicians here in Red Hampshire that poo-poo the very idea of lyme disease...they claim it doesn't exist.
Be aware...don't sniff the undiluted solution...it reeks to high heaven (rotten eggs). It's fine once diluted with water.
