A 43.5 million project to construct a building where Jews, Muslims and Christians can pray together under one roof in the center of Berlin moved a step closer on Tuesday.
Called the House of One, the building would become the first in the world built together by the three religions to pray in. It will house a church, synagogue and a mosque.

I don’t think so, Tim.

I hope it has strong outer walls and a light, easily detached roof.

Columbia, Maryland (James Rouse’s utopia) has had “interfaith centers” for years.

The story doesn't make clear whether there will be three "sanctuaries" with one roof over all, or whether they will in fact have a single shared worship space.
This will not work for Catholic. The place has to be consecrated; and if there is a consecrated altar, it can't be used for anything else.
Plus, Muslims are iconoclasts--- they can't tolerate images ---while Catholics are iconodules. What are they going to do, remove the crucifixes and cover up stained glass windows, sculptures and murals when the Muslims are using the space?
This would end up all-mosque, it seems to me. A really misbegotten idea.

Sounds wonderful on the surface but when you read the Koran or just observe all the Moslem mass murders and terrorism around the world, you come to realize that Allah is not the Judeo- Christian God (but rather is His antithesis). IMHO, It is improper to pray with people who are sworn by their religion to subjugate or kill us. Sorry guys, I’d love it if this were otherwise and all that separated us from Islam were a few doctrinal differences. And, I’m willing to pray with just about anyone with almost any doctrines so long as their religion isn’t bent on murdering us.

Yeah, my brother lives in Columbia, and I’ve prayed in -— or simulated prayer in -— that “interfaith” center. Brings to mind the phrases “the stripping of the altars” and “bare, ruined choirs.” It’s an unornamented, cold, uninspiring place. It’s like praying in a dentist’s waiting room -— well, no, it’s not even as nice as that.
