If you don't know your Roman numerals, the Super Bowl can be a confusing time. However, no one will be confused when Super Bowl L kicks off after the 2015 season because for one year only, the NFL will be making the switch from Roman numerals to standard numbers.
That's right: Super Bowl L will be Super Bowl 50. The first-regular numbered Super Bowl will air on Feb. 7, 2016 on CBS.

They should have done this before the thirtieth one. Would have saved me a very awkward moment explaining those Web search results....

In light of recent politics, they might have been worried about the Roman numeral version of Super Bowl 54.

Because some genius in the NFL front office finally realized that young people today cannot READ Roman Numerals!

Now Common Core students will get it. Make sure the name is not in cursive.

Maybe if conservatives wrote and begged the network to reallocate some of their monthly tithe from liberal programming destroying the country to the Superbowl, the NFL could afford to keep the Roman numbers....

What makes you think they can read the regular numerals?

Whew, glad they fixed that.
Now if they can do something about the pansy rules (taunting, excessive celebration, ball carrier can’t lower his head) and the re-education camps for having an opinion, I might have a better opinion of the game.

They see it on almost every homework assignment. At least the smart ones do...

That’s the ticket. Of course with Michael Sams coming on board they might break out 69 in 2034.

Cursive throws them so Roman numerals must just kill them.

I remember the first one. It was really hyped but for some reason was not even a sell-out. There were plenty of empty seats.
Bart Starr was MVP, and a receiver whose name I can’t even remember had a great day. He was not expected to see any playing time and partied almost the whole night before.
