RICHMOND (KPIX) — A father followed his 9-year-old autistic son onto the school bus Friday morning and attacked his son’s bully, said Richmond Police Lt. Mark Gagan.

Burnis Hurd, 44, is charged with 273 D, which is child abuse and corporal injury to a child. He is in jail on $50,000 bond.

After they boarded the bus, the son pointed out an 11 year old boy who had been bullying the 9-year old, Gagan said.

A few more like this and the bullies will stop.

If I was on the jury, I’d vote to acquit.

I like my “dead blow” hammers. They don’t bounce when you smack someone in the forehead!

A father's role in life is to care for and protect his children.

The problem with surrogate parenting, whether they be the government or public agencies, is that apparently they are immune from enabling child abuse in different form.

And they are always arrogant and unaccountable, and universally lacking in common sense.

I support this dad.

Jury nullification!

Or, sue the school district for failing to protect him.

Mr. Hurd’s mistake was doing it on a school bus where he was prolly videoed.

Wait till the bully is alone, then go to it.

Perhaps he didn’t need to abuse the bully. Most bullies are cowards with a big mouth. Sometime a verbal talking down to is all that’s needed.

I would simply tell the parents that if the kid doesn’t leave mine alone, I will deal with them when I get out of jail... and the parents too.

It is relevant that both children involved are “special.”

according to the article, it was not video taped and the bus driver did not intervene or report the incident.

Bully went crying to the principal who then called the cops.

Both of these kids are special-ed... Looks like a case of low information voters doing low information things.

If I was on the jury, I’d vote to acquit.

In a Civil Society, the government enforces civility when one of it’s members steps out of line and commits act of incivility.

When the government refuses to enforce civility , or in the case of the current government, incite incivility among various segments of the population , what are the options?

Shanika Moses the child's aunt and guardian

So there was no father whose @$$ should have been pounded into the pavement. What a surprise.

Barring that Mr. Hurd might have gone after the school superintendent or principal.

Back on the Rez, where I grew up, I have a friend who did so when his little girl was being hassled by a gang. Dragged the principal up over his desk and told him next time it was his arse on the line.

Of course Shanika's little piece of filth will beat many and kill a few more before he rots in jail. But it won't do anybody much good to be pounding on a child.

Now Mr. Hurd is off to jail and his son won't have a dad either.

There are no parents in the bully’s home.

Imagine that!

Well, the bully’s low information parents didn’t give enough of a cap about their kid to either correct his behavior before he got a fully earned consequence, or keep him home so he didn’t earn a consequence.

They relied on a low morality public to stick up for special little thug.

It seems to have worked to some extent. Here you are.
