A 43-year-old Griffin police officer and father of seven was shot and killed outside of a Waffle House early this morning while working an off-duty security job in full uniform, authorities said.
Three suspects are in custody after the shooting death of Officer Kevin Jordan, an ex-Marine who had been with the Griffin Police Department for four years and often worked security at the restaurant on weekend nights, police spokesman Mike Richardson said.
The altercation began when two men and a woman who allegedly caused a disturbance at a Waffle House on U.S. 19 were asked to leave the restaurant around 2:20 a.m. Saturday, Richardson said. A fight broke out after Jordan got them outside and tried to handcuff 28-year-old Chantell Mixon, he said.
Jordan was on the ground trying to restrain Mixon when another man shot him at least three times in the back, and one of the bullets cut through Jordans bulletproof vest, Richardson said. Police identified the suspected gunman as 30-year-old Michael D. Bowman.
Jordans brother, Raymond Jordan, was in the parking lot when the gunfire erupted and shot Bowman, Richardson said. The brother is a civilian who had a permit to carry a gun and was at the restaurant to visit Jordan, police said.

Yeah. Who knew a Waffle House needed armed seucrity?
Probably in an Amish neighborhood.
Prayers for Officer Kevin Jordan’s family and friends. May Officer Kevin Jordan Rest in Peace.
You and me both. If the facts are as stated, the Left and their MSM propaganda arm will paint these scumbags as credentialed ambassadors of the NRA and the Tea Party. (There are no Leftist criminals, only "disturbed individuals" and "isolated incidents.")
GSC caled it in post 12.
This is an anti-cop website.
Any particular reason for an Admin Mod to question the use of a particular keyword...on an open thread?
BTTT
Back, when I lived in Atalanta 15 years ago, it was common knowledge not to hang out at Waffle Houses or IHOP’s at night.
Wonder why he was working security there?
Those places were bad news then and apparently still are.
Secret: it’s where the Amish go after hours.
(Another secret: apparently the Amish don’t go near Original Pancake Houses and so it’s OK to hang out there.)
Who is that photo of? Couldn’t tell on my iPhone.
I never knew there was a Waffle House ping list. I must belong!
Poor man. Poor family. This is tragic.
Back when I lived in Myrtle Beach, the local WH only had security (unarmed) during Bike Week. The rest of the year, security was provided by a grill op with a meat cleaver. It’s the location. (And for the record, it might not be in an “Amish” neighborhood. Plenty of white tweakers.)
You JBLs are so pathetic. Yes, some of us FReepers speak out against militarized thugcops who abuse citizens in numerous ways. But we also support good officers.
In this case, the officer was clearly doing his job and some POS killed him. I hope that POS (who was shot by the officer’s brother) dies. Either now or on the chair.
Prayers to the family. May God bless them.
Yes, of course. The thread is about a police officer. Any particular reason for questioning it?
It’s the location more than anything else. I’ve spent a lot of late nights at the Awful Waffle, and only once did I even see a fight. (Instigator was a drunk white kid, BTW. Server immobilized him without breaking a sweat, after which DWK got a trip to the Graybar Hotel.)
i don’t hate my country. i hate what certain people have done, are doing, and planning to do to my country.
Seriously! I've never seen such a strange post as that before. AdminModerators Gone Wild.
No, Responsibility, it is an anti-thugcop site. JMHO of course.
RIP, Officer Jordan.
Well, I'd like to agree; but you are the keeper of the 'kitty ping list, so I have to make an exception...sorry.
