That’s good to hear that you didn’t have to be there too long. The clinic we have closest to us is in Farmington, but the local Veterans tell me that they just go there in order to get their meds, and see the private practice docs for everything else.
I have no experience with the St. Louis VA. My Dad lived in Southwest Mo. and he always went to the KC VA. He would catch an OATS van up there, and be there all day waiting for them to get him in. He had lots of health issues, had already had heart attack and strokes. Traveling 3 hours up and three hours back wasn’t great for a guy in his shape. He did like his VA doc a lot, but he relied on Medicare for the bulk of his treatment and got his meds through the VA.
There was always a concern that he would miss his ride home, and he would remind them now and again. Once they actually did drag it out so long that he missed the van. They wound up sending him home in a taxi.
Well, I won’t editorialize and tell you what I thought; I’ll just let the facts speak.
I wish you could send a couple of days of rain our way, and dry out a little to plant the rest of your stuff.LOL
It took me over six/seven months to get this initial visit after applying for my benefits. I have had good feed back from those I know who go there. My wife says the people at work have only given her good positive comments about this particular clinic. Looks like I lucked up with the VA service where I live. Even the people across the street at the hospital were nothing but very kind and helpful. No long waits and in and out in a hurry.
I have been at a couple of Doctors offices here where there are 30 or so people waiting to see a doctor and a visit takes hours and hours!
