The Interior Department announced today that the National Park Service is launching a study to identify places and events associated with the story of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) Americans for inclusion in the national parks system.
The National Historic Landmark Program began actively looking for sites associated with LGBT history in 2010 for the potential of being listed in the National Register of Historic Places. Todays directive, part of a broader administration initiative to ensure that the National Park Service reflects and tells a more complete story of the people and events responsible for building this nation, will expand those efforts.

“IT WAS IN THIS BATH HOUSE FACILITY THAT RAHAM EMMANUEL AND BARACK OBAMA WOULD OFTEN RELAX AND DE-STRESS FROM HARD DAYS OF COMMUNITY ORGANIZING”
Maybe Obama can suggest a few sites; after all, it’s all about him, 24/7.
> Agreed. Its lunacy and wants to run our lives.
Problem is, about half of the population now thinks that the sick and perverse practices of homosexuals should not only be normalized and recognized by civil authorities as legitimate basis for marriage, but must be “celebrated” by the rest of the population, even to the point of excluding from professional positions those who disagree with the caprophage, urolagnia, fudge-packing, carpet-munching agenda.
The Barack Obama National Park LGBT Memorial Highway Rest Stop Series.
Blah.
I nominate Butthole Park in San Francisco!
Must have meant every courtroom in America that has handed down fines for queers having sex in public areas!
I'm Ranger Truly Fabulous and I'll be your guide today....
But it is NOW OFFICIAL: God has left the building and “America” — the idea left us by the Founders — is now OVER!
In addition to picking up homosexual historic sites, I think the Park Service should have a homosexual tie-in at all NPS facilities. Some of them would be easy. Homosexuals have fought in all of our wars. Put the historians and genealogists to work to find out who those individuals were, and have exhibits such as “The Soldiers of Gay-tysburg,” “The Rainbow Flag Brigaydes of Shiloh”, “The Queens of Kings Mountain.” Since it has been established that Lincoln was a homosexual, all the Lincoln sites should have a strong, if not exclusively, homosexual theme, including 1/4 of Mount Rushmore and all of the Lincoln Memorial. What was the silly north-south thing in comparison to what is truly important about Old Abe? Really, friends, isn’t it high time that homosexuality had its own special shrine on the Capitol Mall?
Well, look at it this way:
a plaque on a wall of a restroom in a public park that is inscribed with some kind of historical tale of LGBT activity that made the site worthy of a place on the National Register of Historic Sites might well serve as a warning to parents to keep their children away.
I’m wondering if these would be examples of the historic sites:
1.the movie theater where Pee Wee Herman did his thing.
2.Rock Hudson’s home (outed movie star location)
3.Liberace home (famous musician site)
4.”Wide-stance stall” (famous airport site)
5. Barney Frank’s basement (famous Congressional gay pimp/prostitute location)
I’m sure we can think of more locations for this fine and badly needed Federal program.
I was in the post office today, and the workers behind the counter were looking over the newly arrived stamps. One of them mentioned Harvey Milk stamps, and asked who it was, the other guy said he had no idea.
They were around mid 40’s or so. If they were 20something they would have known the whole history of Milk. Ugh.
