Atlanta: An 18-year-old who had graduated from high school hours earlier drowned in Lake Allatoona this weekend while playing a game in which people launch someone off a dock in a shopping cart, authorities said. Chance Werner, of Euharlee, was playing the game with other teens and an adult at Dock D at the Holiday Harbor Marina in Bartow County just before midnight on Saturday. Witnesses said he had just graduated from high school on Saturday, authorities said.

If he already had a son, Darwin stepped in too late.
“New info this morning says he had been drinking and had a 3 month old son. A series of bad decisions and Darwin steps in to handle the situation. “
Since he already has a child, his genes will likely continue on. Not the greatest example of darwin award candidate.
A few miles from us. Each loss is a problem, but I was surprised to find out that over 300 had died in that lake since the mid-50’s.
This sounds like something I would have done when I was young and stupid (as opposed to now, when I'm older and stupid). They say God protects drunks and fools, and I was definitely both when I did stuff like that.
Out of respect for the recently departed, I will refrain from my usual "it's time to pull your kids out of government run schools, people" mantra.
RIP.
Darwin was an optimist.
Eighteen year-olds do stupid things. I know, I did my share.
Sometimes, there are terrible consequences.
Prayers for his family.
and his name was Chance. There’s irony in there somewhere.
“The rope was tied to the cart and his belt loop, she said.
When the cart was pushed off the dock, it dragged Werner down into about 30 feet of water and he drowned, she said.”
Just graduated? Proof, common sense is not taught or
promoted in schools, the only problem is that he was
able to reproduce before mother nature stepped in to
correct it’s mistake. And the gene pool will be further
corrupted.
I did stupid things when I was 18. Really stupid things. I feel terribly sorry for this young man, and for his parents and friends, who must be devastated. May the Lord have mercy on them all.
I don't think this contempt for a dead youth shows anything good about our souls.
....apparently no problem dropping trou before this unfortunate incident.
I once saw a guy ride a bike off the high dive.
Werner and two other young men were pushing each other into the lake in the shopping cart, and pulling the cart back up with a rope, according to Bartow County Sheriff Clark Millsap.
Typically when people play this game, the cart is tied to a pole at the dock, but in this instance, Werner decided to act as the pole, Cummings said. The rope was tied to the cart and his belt loop, she said.
When the cart was pushed off the dock, it dragged Werner down into about 30 feet of water and he drowned, she said.
Sometimes you just can't fix stupid.
How long before the family sues the store that originally owned the shopping cart?
And everybody wonders why we don’t make drinking legal for people under 21? The fact is that adults have a hard time handling themselves when they drink, much less 18 year old kids!
...while his friend's cheered him on.
How long before the family sues the store from which the shopping cart was stolen?
There, fixed it.
There was a 19 year old the weekend who decided to hold his breath while driving through a tunnel in or near Portland, Oregon this weekends. He fainted mid-tunnel and crashed his car into another car! Fortunately no one died, but what a dumbass!
