Maybe it was some wise warning your dad once gave you, or maybe it was something useful your coach told you that still guides you today, but what would you consider that best advice you've ever received?

From my very wise mother:
"If you aren't planning on getting married soon, don't do a lot of necking."
Sure beat any "advice" I got from the sex ed teachers.

Nice girls do too.
Make a point of being trustworthy in even the littlest of things.
Always tell the truth, even when it might be inconvenient. At least you won't have to remember everything you said.
K.I.S.S. (Keep It Simple, Stupid).
There is nothing so foolproof some fool can't manage to mess it up. Unbreakable works the same way.
(An adjunct: Knowledge is limited, stupidity is boundless.)
If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

The early bird catches the worm. But that doesnt say much for the worm that got up early. My dad always would say that the worm was just returning from a late night out.

Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness sake..
I felt particularly touched by your comment. I am a preacher’s kid (PK) and was frequently a whistleblower during my career and suffered for it when others kept quiet. Eventually I became certified as a CPA and Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE).
Reagan’s “Trust But Verify” comes to mind as good advice for this topic! It was always good advice for auditors.

Best advice I got was in high school when a teacher told me I did not have to work for someone else. I followed that advice and am really happy I did.
Best advice I got at the age of 28 was avoid interest, avoid debt. Did that too.
