NEW YORK (AP) A slice of the New York City area mainstream a police officer, a fire department paramedic, a rabbi, a nurse, a Boy Scout leader used the Internet to anonymously collect and trade child pornography, federal officials said Wednesday.
The six were among at least 70 men and one woman charged in a five-week operation by the Homeland Security Investigations arm of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement. Federal officials, who planned to announce the arrests a news conference later Wednesday, call it one of the largest local roundups ever of people who collect images of children having sex and a stark reminder that they come from all segments of society.

Kinda makes FR look bad.
Thank you.
Incidentally, just sayin’ — I simply skip posts written by a small handful of FReepers such as the loon above, even if they’re addressed to me, and even when they’re not. It makes for much better reading and food for thought. The poor bastard is “mental,” as they used to say.
Thanks for taking the time to share this bamahead.
BRAINSTORM SUGGESTION! It looks very much like Responsibility 2nd is stalking you. Now, a certain similar creep who libels anyone self-defining as small-l libertarian as “child porn loving” etcetera depraved monster, who shall remain unnamed, has managed to get some of my posts deleted on the grounds of “stalking.” So apparently it works. Clearly R2nd is stalking you if he’s pinging you to child porn threads (yeeeeeeeigh ... what a creep) ... Anyway, just a thought. I really hope these rabid nutcases who libel God-fearing FReepers this way start to get a few warning zots.
“I simply do not understand this, I cant comprehend it..”
Nor do I. And we probably never will. Some people are just predators I guess.
As you complain about your posts getting deleted, and as in a previous thread today you made a physical threat of violence against me, and as you now violate FR policies by insulting me (bastard, monster, creep, etc.) I should encourage you to knock it off.
But hey... if this makes you feel better about yourself - go for it. You have my permission.
I totally agree
I wondered why I’m not familiar with such a prolific poster since I enjoy learning about important issues. I looked at his/her posting history. Now I know. Heh.
To the defense of FR and the mods, they can’t do anything if no one hits the abuse button. There are too many threads to monitor. To their further defense and credit, I’ve hit the abuse button several times while at FR and with very few exceptions, the post in question has gone away in a matter of minutes. Including those times when I’ve hit the button on myself. The key is know the rules and stick to them and insist that others do so as well.
Every time anyone hits that post button they are advised to not engage in personal attacks. So don’t accept those attacks when and where you see them. Make FR a better place.
They never get the zot or even a warning until someone hits the abuse button. Again, I’ve never had a problem with hitting the button where it’s clearly unacceptable behavior.
The site rules are clear, and the rules and preferences of the owner of this website should be abided by. Look at it from the perspective of a private contract: when we signed up here we all agreed to abide by certain terms and conditions as a condition of posting here. Why should we tolerate the diminishment of the owners property rights by tolerating those who fail to abide by those terms?
When the posts are left standing, they illustrate the caliber of character behind the opinion. I always thought it was great to leave the most odious of the Romney posters comments because it illustrated so well how you can judge a politician by the behavior of his supporters.
We are veterans on FR, but I think newcomers and lurkers are probably as turned off as we are at the porn-peddling anti-libertarian sect, but probably don't yet know that they represent a small minority.
Rolling it around, really there seems to be a faction of "conservatives" for whom the word "conservative" is code for "Christian." So "conservative" use of government is using it to enforce Christian morality.
To me, "conservative" is to use sparingly. It is the essence of libertarian principle. As a Christian, I see that only government spawns and generates the infrastructure for moral breakdown. No one needed government to persecute homosexual relationships, though local governments were welcome to have them if they pleased. What really happened is that homosexuals needed government to force other people to play along with their fantasy. Government is the sole power source fueling the homosexual "culture war" battle, all the way down to its domination of education.
>> modern libertarianism is anathema to all things conservative. Its immoral.
Well, libertarianism is about enforcement, not morality. Your issue, R2, is with modern liberalism, not libertarianism. Liberalism and conservatism describe morality. Statism and libertarianism are the enforcement factors.
The Libertarian Party has about as much in common with libertarianism, as does the Democrat Party with democracy, and the Republican Party with republicanism. That said, there is a significant element of Liberalism within the Libertarian Party. So when folks like you, R2, condemn popular Libertarianism, I can understand why; however, it doesn’t make sense to nettle the libertarian FReepers that have made it clear they’re not Liberal, but state unequivocally to be conservative.
Some say libertarianism is a mere step above anarchy. Well, understand that in an anarchic society, the confirmed pedophiles would be hunted and summarily executed. Have no doubt about that.
Thanks Gene for your rational reply. But I would argue that libertarianism is about UNenforcement. I do understand the libertarian position about restricting the size of government and all that. There are indeed too many laws and way too many regulations.
But modern libertarians goes way beyond this. You know what got this current flame war between me and bama started? It was a Rand Paul thread from a day or two ago. Where Paul wanted to agree to disagree on social issues.
Understand that Rand Paul is THE poster child for modern libertarianism, and that his positions are definitely NOT favored here at FR. And so I used that springboard to expand on my contempt for other lib issues. Bama then went on to add me - without my consent - to his ping list and I went on to ping him to articles like this.
In the interest of semi-resolving this matter, I would ask that bamahead remove me from his ping list and I will quit pinging him for any reason.
Got it, thanks. Hope this gets resolved (or diffused.)
BTW, not happy about Rand’s dismissal of moral concerns. I got the impression he was pandering to what you describe as the modern libertarian movement, RINOs, and moderates. Well, I guess that’s a lot voters, but still... there’s no substitute for moral fortitude.
Yes, there does seem to be a few who are fine with using the power of the state to establish an authoritarian theocracy. Yet they never catch on to the extreme irony of being Christian and advocating the use of state power to enforce their beliefs. They seem to forget that the abuse of state power was the mechanism used to crucify our Lord.
Agreed. Bon Voyage.
Not surprised at all bamahead. There are some units that are seriously deranged at the thought we might want to have a little economic and political freedom. That one was identified long ago.
Been there, done that, friend. Don’t wanna go back. Ignore it.
I’d like to point out that Jim prefers a light-hand-on-the-tiller (libertarian?) approach to most issues that involve discord between/among Freepers. It works. Sometimes it takes a while, but it works. At first, I really didn’t like that approach. I mean really didn’t like it. Now, I’m glad he handles it that way because it makes me really think about how I interact here.
Sarah Palin is proud of her libertarian streak. As am I. I’m gonna go out on a limb and predict that Sarah Palin ain’t okay with child porn. Neither am I. In the end, what another thinks about me is none of my business. So I won’t make it my business by being concerned. (Laz taught me that. Love you, buddy.)
