I Feel Like I Time Warped to the 1970's.

I had a thought a while back and decided to post it:

There is a side of me that feels like I time travelled back to the 1970's. Let's face it, like then, we have a horrible economy, an inept President, gas (and energy in general) prices are high, we have a weakened military, Islamic radicals causing trouble, the Russians are invading their neighbors and we have Jerry "Governor Moonbeam" Brown as governor of California.

I wish I kept the December 1978 issue of Playboy, the Farrah Fawcett edition.

I know, it isn’t exactly alike but there are striking similarities.

I have the same thoughts myself, the thing different now is it seems like we are a dying nation if we keep going this way. I remember one quote from Michael Savage where he made a good point that our fathers back in 1970 had a lot more freedom than we do now.

When you think about it, the 1970’s was an interesting time. I know many of the TV shows lean to the left like “All in the Family” but even so, they could not get on today’ TV, they would be too “politically incorrect.” I can’t imagine Archie Bunker getting on today’s TV. I also like the old TV show, “The Bold Ones” where I saw the lawyer episode from 1970 where Burl Ives, Joseph Campenella and James Farantino took a case to help clear a young Black man from murdering a cop by pushing him over a fire escape to flee a raid. The young man was a radical and it turned out his father came to warn him and actually it was his father who accidently pushed the cop. The father committed suicide and the young man was acquitted but it was hard on the legal time because the young man kept going on outbursts during the trial and he even said basically, “the system keeps the ni——s down” a few times. Same with the TV show “Roots,” I could not see them made as they were in today’s climate.

Yeah, I thought the worse desert in space exploration was the 1975 to 1981 period, but Obumbles stopping the shuttle takes the cake.

Yeah, true. We still have ICBM’s but the Russians and Red Chinese keep building new ones while the ones we have here are almost as old as me. B-P

I still remember how hard I laughed at that scene. The names of the French Resistance people was great, too.

Latrine, Deja Vu, Chocolat Mousse, . . .
