A cat came to her best friend's rescue Tuesday when the young boy was attacked in his driveway in Southwest Bakersfield.
The surveillance video shows the boy playing on his bicycle when a dog sneaks up behind him and grabs his leg.
The family's cat, named Tara, rushes the attacking dog and chased it away.
The boy's mother, Eric Triantafilo, told 23ABC the boy needed a few stitches, but he is doing fine this morning.

I love it how the cat turns around briefly to look for the boy’s mother’s approval and then quickly turns back on pursuit of the dog.

I didn’t know that cats do this kind of thing.

I agree! And that cat should live the rest of his natural life on his favorite cat food! I used to get dried sardines for my cat, they were her favorite treat!

An angry cat is a match for most dogs. Dog’s lucky it wasn’t a pet cougar.
To: Pyro7480
Awesome! I don’t know about other cats, but our cat is very territorial. She loves people, but won’t let another animal to stick around long.

That dog needs to be put down.
That was a completely unprovoked attack on a child outside the dogs territory/yard.
That dog has bad wiring and no inhibition about attacking children.
No rehabilitation; Euthanization.

Dogs usually have size in their favor, but cats are agile and equipped with a lot of sharp objects.
