A cat that vanished three years ago during Japans 2011 tsunami disaster has been unexpectedly reunited with its owners. The black cat, called Suika, was thought to have died after disappearing on March 11, 2011 the day of the earthquake and tsunami from his home in Ofunato, Iwate prefecture.

The cat probably hissed at whoever rescued it. I love cats. Gratitude is not something they do often or well. :)

A wonderful kitty ping..
I wish kitty could tell of his adventures during his three years wandering. It would be a cat best seller!

Good afternoon.
I have related this story on FR before, but this thread brought it back to mind...
A stray showed up at my lanai eight years ago. Somebody tried to kill him, almost cut off his tail. I told the First lady not to feed him, but that I would administer first aid, which I did. The next day the cat showed up again. Sheesh.
So I took the cat in my vehicle about 7 miles away and dropped him off.
Two days later, the cat shows up at my lanai. After the First lady fed him, and I changed the dressing, I now have a cat. His name is "tiger."
Sheesh.

Sheesh, you are both correct.
In the fwiw department, I "obtained" another one two years after tiger. Tiger is a short haired domestic. Big cat (20 lbs). The female (Lady) is a calico about 9 lbs. I never thought that I could bond with a cat, or own one [having had Springer spaniels for hunting all my life).

They could not even get rid of that cat with a taifun. What can they try next? Earthquake? Godzilla?

She grew up in a dog-owning home, never had cats and never had any particular fondness for them. But then she married my dad, a lifelong cat lover, and she said she had to learn to love them in self-defense, LOL. We always had cats, and she adored them.
