Iranian Submarine Lost While Practicing To Sink U.S. Aircraft Carrier

In the Persian Gulf there are rumors that one of Iran's Ghadir mini-subs sank while practicing tactics for attacking an American Nimitz class carrier.
It was believed that a recently built two-thirds replica of an American Nimitz class aircraft carrier would be towed out so the Ghadir could get some experience in how to approach such a large ship and launch torpedoes at it.
The rumored loss of a Ghadir was accompanied by talk of some new stealth technology on the Ghadir. That is probably just rumor as the small size of the Ghadir already confers a substantial amount of stealthiness.
This purported stealth technology is supposed to explain why Iranian salvage ships are not out looking for the sunken Ghadir as that activity would tell foreigners where, approximately, the sub went down.

Let me guess - they left the screen door open when they submerged?

Either 1, that sub is now sitting in drydock in Israel or 2, the sub is sitting in the hull of a US warship, on it’s way back to Norfolk.
Or 3, no such sub exists.

The sub got nervous and popped it’s rivets...

The
Ghadir-class submarine is a 120 ton midget sub with a crew of 18. It can carry two torpedoes. Iran has about 21 of them (may maybe 20 now)

Love it. The exchanges between these two in that film were great. I miss Richard Jordan. He was excellent as Lo Armistead in Gettysburg. A very good character actor that left us too soon.

You have to ask yourself: Do I want to be in s sub run by a bunch of crazy muzzie camel jocks? It's probably pretty quiet when running on battery, and the muzzies are big on suicide missions. I could see them loading one up with two torpedoes (and some extra explosives), and seeing how close they could get to a ship before being discovered. If discovered, launch torps. If undiscovered until coming into contact distance of the ship, detonate onboard explosives.

I wonder if one could parley this incident and others with the Iranian “navy” into a sitcom that’s a version of “McHale’s Navy” supposedly set in Iran?
