iS THE media on pins and needles wondering where Michael Sam goes?
I don’t really care.

In this day and age, if I were the GM making my top pick, I would pick the best player who would present the smallest prospect of being troubled or troublesome.

Anybody ever read "Building a Champion" by Bill Walsh and Glenn Dickey about the days of Bill Walsh with the Niners in the 80's? The book goes into detail about his amazing preparation for the draft and draft-day execution which were as thorough and precise as the organization itself was under Walsh. It's really a kind of blueprint for success on draft day beginning with clarity of team priorities and a knowledgeable and intuitive eye for talent.

Cool and true story. I am a huge draftnik and G-Men fan from way back. Me and my buddy were coming out of a meeting talking about the draft and who walks by but Justin Pugh-Giants number one pick from last year. Swear to God. Giant of a man carrying groceries and big bag of diapers. Our jaws hit the floor.

Sorta off topic but enjoyed this book (life as a long time "marginal" NFL player)

The fact is, the Cowboys are NOT a QB away from the Super Bowl! Hell, they are an ENTIRE DAMN DEFENSE AWAY from having more than 8 victories in any of the last three seasons!!
With that said, if Jerry is stupid enough to waste a pick on Johnny, then we Cowboy fans should expect another piss-poor 7-9 or 8-8 season!
The Cowboy offense has been one of the better offenses over the last two or three years. But, their defense has been dropping year over year and landed in LAST PLACE last year! Then, they lost two of their best DL’s during this off season.
So any first round pick that does not address our anemic, hole-filled defense, tells me that Jerry is more worried about the “show” of the team, than the winning of the game!

There might be a “next Brady Quinn” someday, but there will never, ever, ever be another draft pick as bad as Ryan Leaf.
To: windcliff; Perdogg
Plus, he was on the cover of S.I. already, very interesting eval of him. He’ll wind up somewhere that needs a mobile QB as mgmt rebuilds the rest of the offense over a few years. Then they’ll trade him to a team that needs a solid 2nd string. I think he’s going to be better than most, but he’s a little short, and the pace is more brisk in The Show.

The next Brady Quinn. Or the next Ryan Leaf.
To: ExTxMarine
Wait a minute, where’s the guy on here who ripped me last season when I told him that the Cowboys were slated “just about right” when the power ratings had them at 15/16/17?
