Been there, done that, don’t do it anymore. I like the acoustic trio thing now, play a coffee shop from 7-9, minimal gear, home by 11 usually. Or, we do a lot of daytime, weekend fundraisers. I don’t miss the days of a full-on, top 40 band with all the gear. Playing an art show next Thursday from 5-8, and then a Forza Coffee shop that Saturday from 7-9. Don’t make much $$$, but that’s not the point anymore. I just like to play. I just might request that my ashes get stuffed into my Martin! HAHA!
“...I like the acoustic trio thing now...”
That is a nice setup. I have some buddies that do that as well. Was asked a few times if I wanted in, but I declined.
Personally... I miss the thunder. There’s nothing like standing up in front of the stack and the drummer kicks in with “Rock N Roll”, “Walk This Way”, or “Train Kept A Rollin’” to open up an evening. We covered the gamut from Zeppelin, Rush, Aerosmith, Foghat, Deep Purple, through the a lot of the 80s metal and hard stuff as well.
RE Martin:
They make some fine acoustic guitars.
