I am also sure that you are aware that public property does not allow everyone to do what ever they want. City parks can be closed. Individuals who trespass after hours can be arrested.
Its more like we have tax crushed dems moving from places like New York. at least the people from mass for the most part are on the red side.
Oh like the occupy crowd. that worked.
The occupy crowd does NOT have the right to use a city park or public location without the permission of the city. However, the city officials decided for political reasons not to enforce the removal of those individuals. The failure to act on behalf of the city was a political decision not a legal one.
There's such an emphasis on order and protocol that that average person just gives up.
Or they speak out of turn and get arrested.
so the city broke the law? nice
No, with the occupy crowd, they failed to enforce the law. Perhaps a minor difference.
I agree and it time to stop the nonsense.
Kinda like obummer does. Don’t like a law don’t enforce it.
EASY
I am going to assume, based on what I saw in the video, that the meeting took place at a school library. That is NOT public property, it is state property.
Not all property owned by the state (or school district) is public property. Rather it is state property. State property is “private” in that it is owned by the state (school board) who has and exercises full ownership of that property. They have the right to say who is able to enter or use that property. Further, they have the right to trespass (remove) someone from that property should they not be in compliance with the rules set forth by the owner of the property. In many ways, this is the same right you exercise to keep someone off of your private property.
For example, you can not enter a military base without permission of the military. That is state property. A city park that is open to the public is a subset of state property and is truly public property. Sidewalks are considered public property as well as roads because they are usable by any member of the public.
Some of the offending material is excerpted on this page. http://m.eagnews.org/?url=http%3A%2F%2Feagnews.org%2Fnew-hampshire-father-opposes-required-reading-of-pornographic-novel-in-9th-grade-english%2F&dm_redirected=true#2883 . It’s too offensive to post on FR, but it’s being forced on children in public school. Take the time to read it before defending it any further.
This was a public meeting. The parents have every right (and obligation) to speak up against the sexual abuse of their children. No two minute rule would stop me from defending my child.
So your original comment was about a crime being committed. And there was no crime. And when you’re called on it, you try to BS me.
"Speak for over two minutes and get arrested" indeed. Good thing George Washington and a few of his gutsy friends ignored that rule.
people better start standing up and speaking out....if it happens thousands of times across the country the msg will be sent...
and the govt and its workers don’t break the “rules” everyday of the year?...because they do...do they get arrested and taken away?...never....
but gee, speaking out of turn is soooooo much worse then defecating on cop cars, raping women in tents, and leaving your little todders outside to roam by themselves while you fornicate in a tent and use drugs....
did you ever ask yourself why OUR public officials seeking OUR input would have it in a place that THEY control even though the citizens pay every stinking dime for it....
what the govt entities do is PRETEND to have open meetings...they then set a strict narrow agenda of approved ideas and if you wonder off the rez....whammo....you're a trouble maker...
I’m going to guess that you have taken advantage of your states new pot laws to make a statement like that.
I just posted to another thread that I didn’t want to view the vid of the cat being kicked because I would never be able to unwatch it. That is to say, it will always be in my memory.
This father’s daughter was given “literature” to read that she can never unread. As a parent, I would bend over backwards to protect my kids from sleazy material, and if someone sneaked some in without my knowing, I’d be livid. I don’t blame this father for his outrage. No amount of apology can undo what was done.
I suspect the 2-minute rule was just an empty gesture to give parents the sense that they had some input in their kids’ curriculum. I also suspect the father knew that. If he were my father, I’d have been very proud of him. Fortunately, we didn’t have such issues in my day.
Big battle going on in our school also.
Head of school board announced that anyone not having a child in school would not be allowed to speak.
