So our last report saw Mexican troops invading our borders -- even drawing weapons on our agents on U.S. soil -- and facing absolutely no consequences by the Obama Adminstration.

But let one American make a wrong turn into Mexico -- and there will be hell to pay. 

That's exactly what happened to a U.S. Marine veteran last month, after he accidentally drove into Mexico with three legally owned guns in his truck. And he has been rotting in a brutal Mexican jail in Tijuana ever since.

California Republican Rep. Duncan Hunter sent a letter Friday to Secretary of State John Kerry asking him to secure the release of Afghanistan war veteran Andrew Tahmooressi, who had just moved to San Diego from Florida and had all his belongings in his truck, including his pistol, shotgun and rifle, when he missed the last U.S. exit on April 1, forcing him to cross the border.

Road closures because of checkpoints and construction added to the confusion, and there was no opportunity for drivers to turn around, Hunter added.

That makes so sense at all. The guns were his and legally owned and the police arrest him for having guns?

What is it with the Mexicans, do they have a constitution or anything or even laws that would protect out citizens Constitutional rights?

The guy is a victim of Tyranny.

The fact of the matter is that he would not be in jail in Tijuana if he had enough money on him to bribe the cops. Mexico is a corrupt hell hole and America is slowly trying to emulate them. The Mexican military is invading our borders on a regular basis and we do nothing about it.

I consider this a kidnapping of an American Citizen. We should not consider that the guy may not be the brightest bulb on the tree. He has effectively been kidnapped by a foreign government. They are waiting for a large enough ransom. That is how their government operates.

Frankly I am appalled at some of the comments on this thread.

I would have called a friend and asked them to bring a case, duffle bag, etc. to me before the border and drop off the cases, then the friend could have gone through and immediately returned and stopped on the other side of the road, whatever, and he could have transferred the stuff

Respectfully, logistically impossible. The road is like a freeway - one way, with barriers on each shoulder. No where to pull over, and if he just stopped, the traffic jam would have made it darn near impossible for a friend to ride to the rescue. The return trip, for the friend, would not have been immediate, it takes several hours to cross back into the U.S., at that crossing, and then the north bound lanes are a significant distance from the southbound lanes - no real chance to just hop into the next lanes, pick up the weapons, and return to a waiting vehicle. Add to that, he was in the process of moving from Florida to San Diego, how many friend’s did he have, in the area, to call ? I opined in an earlier comment, in retrospect, it would have been better to just shut down, right there, and let the Calif. Highway Patrol tow his vehicle to a storage yard. Thank you.

Mexicans gone wild. Coyotes, drug cartels, “rogue military units” running around all over the place and nobody in our government with the ‘nads who are willing to stop it. Our borders are a mess. Thanks Barry!

My son is a dumb marine. IQ 135. UCLA grad in math. Kicking ass as a sales manager for UPS.

I guess we were blinded by his articulateness, analytical skill, and book smarts. Gets most of it all from his mother.

Went in the marines after high school for the discipline and tradition, instead of the other services.

We never realized he was just a dumb marine.

Frankly, had it been as you described, I would have just had a “breakdown” and took my chances on this side of the border. You can’t tell me that breakdowns haven’t happened there before. That is IF I were legally carrying the weapons to start with. It is better to create a legal disturbance than in illegal one.

Ok it has been like 1966 since I have wanted to visit the hell hole called Mexico, we used to go fish or scuba dive down there, as I recall you first have to get through US Customs before you ever get to a corrupt Mexican. The US no longer has a customs post on the border? How did the guns get by them? He said he was with Fast and Furious?
