The swiss chard is doing great, so I told her to cope, she has leafy green veg to eat. I'll troubleshoot the lettuce next time I'm over there.

Well, since you’re the master gardener...My Tromboncino Squash has lots of six inch squash on it, but the flowers on the ends haven’t opened yet. Don’t I have to get pollen from a male flower when those squash blossoms open, and pollinate them so the six inch squash don’t fall off?
I had to have a cat put down today, so I, too am drinking an adult beverage...gin. Oh, and it’s hot outside.

T squash: I have a lot of fuzzy looking things and flowers are going to come out of that with attached squash. Yes, when the flowers bloom, do the Q tip or small brush and pollinate.
Are you saying you have real squash growing, six inches long, and never had flowers bloom? Maybe you are saying the squash is that long AND you can see where a flower will come out.
When I actually get a decent tomato, I’ll let you know I’m then a master gardener.
Let me know what happens after you pick up the pieces of the mouse as a percussive adjustment is a little tough on fairly thin plastic.
—Darn big piece of metal to just lose—
And heavy too.
Post some pictures after you get operational.

I also am missing most of my forge tools of size. I'll start collecting scrap bar steel so that I can make them again.

I will be glad for another harvest. I gave away all but about a dozen peppers last year, out of maybe 75-100 peppers.
I'm ready for about 3"-4" per day for a few days or a week. I'm getting stuck in sand every time I go out in the back yard. I am working on making new trails up the hill avoiding the sandtraps.
Over the weekend, I had Gracie on the scooter between my feet riding her around. I got at the top of the hill and headed down at full blast into the newest patio area for a slowdown zone. Well, I hit some sand that sent me towards my left and dangerously close to some 24" pots and a fence. Gracie loved the excitement so we did it again, this time avoiding the sandtrap. Wife was watching all this! :o)
You know that us guy's never grow up, what fun would that be?
I planted Carrots and Beets today and did some weed slashing for my neighbor who is in a care home plus a hundred little things that are soon forgotten. I’ll be transplanting corn in the next week but it takes longer and longer to get me motivated these days...
Got the sweet corn and green beans planted yesterday. It was a bit of a chore working out in the heat.
I stopped at Lowe’s on the way home from work to pick up a new garden hoe and wound up bringing home a couple varieties of basil that looked interesting. Also bought a lemon balm plant. I transferred those to bigger pots until I figure out a spot to put em in the ground.
If the weather stays decent I’ll be putting tomatoes and peppers in the dirt this weekend.
Jungs had those ghost pepper seeds earlier in spring...dunno if they do now yet. I just don’t have interest in them myself
Thanks.
I have some that I saved, but have not germinated any, so I do not know if they are viable seeds or not. My 2 plants are way too much for me, I don’t eat hot stuff that often, and a little bit goes a long way with these fireballs.
~~~~~~~ boo ~~~~~~~~
Ok, guys, I just had a ghost dog come in from the garden with me. I had gone out to hoe the weeds and finally get the melon seeds in the ground. But no, there were too many yellow pear tomato volunteers popping up and anyway that’s where I had promised the next door neighbor there’d be tomatoes and he could pick whatever was on his side. I weeded some to space the tomatoes better and it’s so hot they were wilting within the 15 seconds of getting them up and into new holes. Well, I came in all sweaty so sat down to drink a glass of water only to hear, “slurp, slurp, slurp, slurp.... slurp, slurp” at the dogs’ water bowl. Only thing is, the dogs were outside. Hubby says he’s good with it because it is probably our old dog who is buried in the garden. That’s what I think, too. She was a sweetheart and my best friend ever - two or four legged.
Motivation is in short supply for me also. I used to have plenty; forgot what happened to it.
When I was outside earlier, I see we have nickle size tomatos on a few plants. I cant get down there close enough to read the tags on what kind they are.
Finally got my 36 pots of tomatoes, 6 ea of 6 varieties; 12 cukes; 6 each of 2 varieties of Chinese cabbage; and 6 of mesclun mix started Sunday. Already the cukes & cabbages are sprouting.
Yesterday, one of the white broiler chicks injured itself, so tonight it is on our dinner plate. At 27 days old, it dressed out at 22 oz, plus the giblets: perfect game hen size. That, wild rice dressing, plus some of last year’s potatoes, and fresh cut asparagus made a good dinner. Dessert will be a fresh baked rhubarb pie from the first picking of the season.
Brings to mind that old saying If you don’t like the weather just wait a few minutes
I thought about you and your fondness of recycling when I spotted this a few minutes ago. The construction may be a little more involved than you want to deal with, but it’s nice to look at what some one else did with it.
