The problem is that certain groups have chosen to inextricably link race with culture. It’s a linkage that provides massive political benefits. To the point where any attempt to delink the two is immediately decried, itself, as racist.
Those are the parameters of the debate. Which were set by others, but which the current social environment here in the US forces us to abide by.
That's exactly correct. The problem is that too many folks see "black" and "urban black culture" as the same thing. There is a relationship, but they are certainly not the same thing.
Just like "German" and "Nazi" are not the same thing.
What does that mean exactly? To me this is just more of a PC meme that deflects responsibility from blacks themselves. It suggest that race and culture are mutually exclusive. While culture and race and not 100% the same they also are not exclusive either. 'Culture' doesn't just pop up out of the ground. They overlap, the only real question is @ what point.
