Diamond Bar Ranch in NM Seized by US Forest Service

Officials say that the Laney’s can redeem their 80 cattle for $40,950

Southwest New Mexico – The Diamond Bar Ranch was acquired by the Laney family in 1986, and its adjacent Laney Cattle Company was allowed to utilize grazing lands since 1883. According to the US Forest Service, however, they are no longer entitled to do so, and the USFS has posted notices along the fence line of their property advising people not to attempt to enter the ranch. Lands are being seized, and the cattle removed, “one way or the other.”

Now they say that the cattle may be redeemed if the Laney’s pay for the costs of rounding up the 80 head of cattle… a hefty $40,950.

Reductions in the herds, loss of appeals, a hard life all because of a fish

Originally, the Laney property was just 115 acres surrounded by around 144,000 acres of public lands for which Mr. Laney paid grazing rights. But after a “study” by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service decided that the lands could not sustain his 1,188 head of cattle, the Forest Service reduced his cattle herd to a meager 300 head.

Kit’s fight for the land and the ranching lifestyle cost him dearly over the years, even to the point of a divorce, as both Kit and Sherry grew exhausted from the battle. They were barred from improvements on the “wilderness” land for several years, which required them to ride out to livestock on horseback rather than hop in a truck. That and the continual stress of appeals, took a toll, though they eventually reconciled.

More cattle confiscations by the BLM. Where do they get their authority to act as law enforcement?

Is this happening to the Laney’s again? I thought all this transpired years ago.

When will these Bureaucrats realize they are AMERICANS and stop this? A paycheck isn't worth it.

I always wondered how the Germans could participate in the slaughter of Jews. I understand now. Government paychecks corrupt the soul.

There was the time in 2005 when he went to jail. Now the BLM has come back at him because he didn’t fully surrender his land.

If memory serves me, that is Forest Service land like the grazing lands in neighboring Arizona. That doesn’t make any difference in Feds’ intent to clear government property of American ranchers, miners and loggers.

Sounds like the BLM needs a little more confrontation in their face.

I would say, ultimately, from the occupier of the White house, with the acquiescence of both political parties. One Party's agreement should be expected. One Party's opposition should be expected. However, since one Party owns the other Party, no one in a position of authority will object.

We, the People, for better or worse, are on our own, My FRiend.

One can like or not like it. One can accept it or reject it. But that is the way it is. One can also learn to deal with it, which is what happened in Nevada. How it will play out elsewhere remains yet to be seen.

Yup. Agenda 21, the cover for the collateralization of our country’s assets in trade for foreign countries buying our debt.

The foreign buyers are realizing this land and its mineral and water rights and timber is the only way they’ll ever get their money back.

The environmentalist ‘battle’ here has been going on for decades. Dave Forman, who started Earf First, worked on a ranch in this particular county, Catron County, before the locals figured out what he was up to. The same goes for the Center For Biological Diversity. Peter Galvin and Kierian Suckling were living just outside of Luna ‘studying’ owls, and the local ranchers were more than accomodating to let them do suck before figuring out that the forest would soon be closed to timber harvesting and grazing due to new policy’s put in place (under the Clinton’s) in direct response to the ‘biological study’s’. Kierian and Peter received their very first ‘grant’ from Ted Turner and thus the Center for Biological Diversity was born, though it was called something else back then.

To the Gang Greenes, any logging or grazing here is a damnable offense. They truly would like to see the Gila National Forest closed to all humans. Regarding the ‘endangered’ Gila Trout, the FS will bring in helicopters and remove the fish from the creeks (shocking them) if fire or anything else threatens them. Doing such has cost millions of dollars over the past few decades. The FS even went so far as to literally poison all the headwater feeders of the Gila River, after having first removed the Gila Trout, in an attempt to kill all other species of trout (which the FS itself introduced many decades ago) and all other aquatic life being casualties of the poisoning program.

The current head of the Gila National Forest is a lesbian who allowed pretty much the bulk of the forest to burn down a couple of years ago since it is ‘natural’. There was a period of about 2 weeks in which the initial fire could have been put out. It started on the edge of the Shelley ranch and Mr Shelley called it in after having riden up there on his horse (he and I go to the same church). The lesbian had no intention of putting out the fire, since the plan is to return the forest to its ‘natural’ state. This also includes removing all grazing allotment, stopping all timber harvesting, and closing damn near the whole forest to any motorized traffic, even an ATV to remove harvested game. The lesbian in charge successfully DID close the forest of her former post in CA. Now she is tasked to do the same here.

There is a battle brewing over 14,000 acre water feet in the AZ water settlements act, and the proposals of the Interstate Stream Commission. The gang greens want to water to not be touched, whereas sane people have developed plans to capture the water during flood stages only, to be stored and used as needed.

The main idea here, of which Kit Laney is only one casualty of, is to clearly institute the UN agenda 21. There is no doubt remaining. These people are insane and godless. They embrace anything not of God and absolutely disdain Christians. I know, because I have to deal with them on an almost daily basis. Useful idiots, every last one of them.

Are we to believe that the land is so crappy in New Mexico that it can only support 1 cow per 128 acres? What is it, on big, fricken rock?

It’s been years since I’ve read anything about Catron County. Sorry to hear they are winning. Maybe, just maybe with a little bit of luck we can get our sheriffs to evict the Feds and their minions.

There’s months on end, during the dry late summer and fall, when it would take 500 acres per AUM.

The Hage v US case makes this settled law.

When will the courts recognize THAT?

Perhaps only when they find BLM agents hanging from trees.

That's right, those guys who go out in BLM trucks all by themselves...often more than 20 miles from the nearest paved road. Even further.

It's gotta suck to be them right now as it's not unreasonable to assume it will be them that pay the bulk of the bill coming due.

The tactics of the US Forest Service and BLM are to pick these old guys off, one at a time. Endless pressure and regs invented on the spot.

These guys can be picked off one at a time too.
