"Miley Cyrus could be in celebrity sick bay for another three weeks because of an "extreme allergic reaction" to an antibiotic, her representative said Thursday."
(snip)
"Miley was suffering from a sinus infection during her tour in N.C. a week ago. She was prescribed the antibiotic Cephalexin which she has now suffered an extreme allergic reaction to," the statement said. "This type of extreme reaction can last from five to 27 days in these types of cases."

I was young once, too. Oh, sure, blame the antibiotics.

Laz’s penchant for cross-pollination scares me. It should scare you too....

Hold this young woman in prayer on this Good Friday. Acceptance of Christ is only rehab that works.

Cephalexin (Keflex) tends to work well for MRSA sinus infections.
(And oh, by the way: it's likely that you have MRSA colonized in your sinuses, too. 85 to 90 percent of the population has it colonized somewhere, usually in the sinuses.)
Reactions to Cephalexin can be pretty nasty, actually. One that comes to mind (and that I have encountered with a patient) is actual detachment and sloughing off of skin. It can occur over the entire body, and patients who experience this are treated in burn centers. It can be lethal, and it is excruciatingly painful, in essence the same as being flayed alive. I would not wish that on anyone, regardless of how distasteful their life choices may be.
Other severe adverse effects are jaundice, coagulopathies (reduced clotting of blood), hemorrhaging, and liver failure.

WOW! That is scary stuff, and I agree that I wouldn’t wish that on anyone either.

You are so right. I ended up with Stevens-Johnson Syndrome after a Keflex regime. Never take it again. Was taking it for an infection (not sinus).
To: 60Gunner
Thanks. Weird, though. Especially since Miley would be my choice for a human petri dish in modern LA.
