A 24-year-old Homosassa man was charged Thursday with suffocating his 1-year-old son because he wanted to have time to play video games, the Citrus County Sheriffs Office said.
Cody Wygant was charged with third-degree murder and willful child neglect, the sheriffs office said.
Wygant was being held in the Citrus County Jail.
A judge on Friday set bail for Wygant at $100,000 with his next court date scheduled for May 23.
Citrus County Fire Rescue responded to Wygants home after receiving an emergency call at 8:21 a.m. Thursday that the child, Daymeon Wygant, wasnt breathing.
Daymeon was transported to Seven Rivers Regional Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead, the sheriffs office said.
During an interview with investigators, Wygant confessed that he suffocated his son to be able to play video games, the sheriffs office said.

Sounds like the one year old probably had high score.
They ought to fry the punk.
Ban video games!
Some people get addicted to them and even one life is too much
Does that make him a Homo or a Homosassian?
Recently my sister allowed her 10 year old to start playing video games, of course I found out and raised more hell than a pet ape and it did no good. I saw my nephew after 6 months of the games at my mom’s birthday party and he has changed completely, from a outgoing kid, to one who would hardly speak to anyone because he wanted to play his games. I haven’t been around gamers very much but from what I have seen in my own family this stuff is more addictive then coke. I wonder if it was designed that way?

“I wonder if it was designed that way?”
Pretty much.
Extensive criminal record in California including tresspassing and rape.
This guy should have been in prison.
i would not call that guy a man
3rd degree? Somehow that doesn’t seem right or just. But, I guess it’s FL law.
Clearly, the authorities are Homosassaphobic.
1st degree would be my choice. 3rd degree, even if convicted, he will back on the street before the jury can exit the courthouse.
It’s probably more to do with the gadgetry and fantasy of the games, similar to men channel-surfing and hogging the remote. Is it any wonder that more women are graduating from college than men? But you couldn’t have asked for a better way to anesthetize half the population than video games.
Remember, someone had sex with Hillary at least once.
When I was growing up, I would go to the arcade and play some pinball machines but it was a rare treat. In the early 1980s, I'd play some PacMan or Galaxia at the E-Club when I was in the Marine Corps but that was about it. I never got into those "console games" that started invading homes back in the mid-1980s. I see some of them like Donkey Kongs and Super Marios and they just look so stupid. How can people be so absorbed with them.
Evidently they are like crack cocaine for some people.
The sad thing is, this father is probably not going to mind being in prison for the rest of his life because now he'll get to play video games in his cell all day long.
I started playing video games in the late 1970s at the age of 5. Not only was I fascinated with playing them, I also was insanely curious about what made them tick.
I’ve been an electrical engineer for almost 20 years now (mainly do FPGA design and embedded software). My entire career basically all started thanks to video games (and pinball).
Its not the games, its the parenting.
I like a joke as much as anyone, but we are talking about the senseless killing of an infant here.
