There are literally thousands of Sears and Roebuck kit homes still standing in this country from back in the late 1800’s and early 1900’s. An awful lot of them were built around towns and villages where railroads were expanding. The kits were shipped via railroad so it just worked out.

Bunch are in Kansas.

Kiit homes are nice. My friend built a kit home and you wouldn’t think it was.

I have a 1921 Sears & Roebuck kit home. It was the first one built in my neighborhood.

Houses are pretty easy to build - even without a kit. Plumbing, electric, HVAC, pretty straight forward. To do higher end fit and finish well is where lots of experience helps.

The log kits would be really interesting to look into - no experience cutting down trees and turning them into log homes so no way I’d be do that without some type of kit.

Interesting list ... if it wasn’t presented as a 17x2 part clickfest.
