A Denver, Colorado mother has been shot dead in front of her children by her 'hallucinating' while she was on a 13 minute call to 911, police said.

Kristine Kirk, 44, called for help around 9:30p.m. Monday, telling dispatchers that her husband Richard Kirk, 47, was 'talking about the end of the world' and 'scarring' their three children. A source told FOX31 investigators are looking at whether he had eaten a marijuana cookie.

Mrs Kirk said in the 911 call that there was a gun in the house but it was in a safe, according to a probable cause statement.

'She then said that her husband retrieved the gun from the safe and she began to scream,' the statement reads. A gunshot could then be heard followed by silence.

Officers arrived on the scene shortly after the shooting.

'They were almost there,' Sonny Jackson, a Denver Police Department spokesman, told The Denver Post.

Full title: Mom, 44, shot dead 'in front of kids by husband who was hallucinating after eating a marijuana cookie'... even though she had called 911 to plead for help for 13 MINUTES

911 didn't help much here, but would there have been a problem without the easy access to pot?

Video at source.

I’m sorry but marijuana does not cause hallucinations. If he was actually hallucinating it was due to some other substance or mental defect.

How many milli-seconds after this story broke did liberals blame the gun?

I call BS. Pot does not cause halucinations. Maybe he had something with the dope.

Maybe the pot was laced with PCP or LSD?

Article makes it sound more like a paranoia episode.

“Maybe the pot was laced with PCP or LSD?”

That would only happen with illegal pot so unlikely in CO

There is a lot more going on here than marijuana. But, it is going to be a much used excuse for all sorts of crimes in the future.

We need to get back to blaming REAL culprits like Twinkies and video games.

My question...

If he was out of his mind, how was he able to open the safe?

Nope.

I’m highly sensitive to any prescribed medication and have never taken recreational hallucinating drugs.

Three years ago I ate a couple brownies that my 21 yo son and friends had made - not knowing they were made with marijuana butter.

I hallucinated horribly and was scared, really scared. I vomitted (all the contents of my stomach) which was the only thing that kept them from taking me to the ER.

I have a strong POV on the marijuana issue based on observing my son over the years.

” If he was actually hallucinating it was due to some other substance or mental defect.”

In the ‘70’s I had a business partner who later developed schizophrenia, which was a family problem. He had one toke on a joint that probably six other people shared with no ill effect. He was in bed with hallucinations for three days. I realize now that there were plenty of other predictive indicators if I had recognized them. That was probably the first visible symptom that he had a larger mental issue.
