Chick-fil-A has surpassed KFC as the top chicken fast food chain.
Chick-fil-A's sales in 2013 passed $5 billion, compared with KFC's $4.2 billion, reports Venessa Wong at Bloomberg Businessweek.
Chick-fil-A has 1,775 U.S. stores, while KFC has 4,491. Despite a smaller footprint, Chick-fil-A's average sales are more than triple those of its larger competitor, Wong writes.
And Chick-fil-A achieves these results despite being closed on Sundays for religious reasons.
Wong illustrates a couple of reasons for Chick-fil-A's success.

“... Wong writes...”
The jokes just write themselves.
I see that liberal/gay boycott of CFA is working out great.
They don’t even pen on Sundays. That would have to cut into their sales.
Popeye’s is better...
Chick-fil-a needs a chicken pot pie, is all I am sayin...
And unlike KFC..CFA has a football championship bowl..
The article states that KFC offers breakfast items. This is the first I have heard about that. Has anyone tried them for breakfast, and if so, what did you think?
Employees that sincerely smile at the customer when they place an order.
RE: I see that liberal/gay boycott of CFA is working out great.
For those who don’t know, Chick-Fil-A DOES HAVE Gay employees.
Very healthy numbers checking state by state.
Better than KFC for sure. I am not sure if CFA offers traditional fried chicken dinners. I thought their Signature Chicken Sandwich was the primary product.
Simple, excellent products, and OUTSTANDING CUSTOMER SERVICE.
KFC sadly has consistency issues in its products across restaurants and its customer service can be down right abysmal at some locations.
KFC has a good product, but many stores are poorly managed and run.
And because CFA does such a good job at those two things combined, they can and do get away with charging a premium for their products over other chains.
I have NEVER been to a Chick-Fil-A that was not impeccably clean and where every single employee in the place practiced outstanding customer service.
I'll be first in line if Chick-Fil-A does such an item!
It’s pretty simple. Chick-Fil-A has great customer service. It’s very noticeable. The stores are very clean. Every KFC I go in is a dump by comparison.
“Better product at more reasonable price.”
Bingo. I had never eaten there before the gay kerfuffle. Then I ate there every night. The employees were very pleasant, more like family. The customers were several cuts above McDonald’s. The place was spotless, including the bathroom. Their salads were first rate. I haven’t been in a KFC for ages. The food was greasy and disgusting. As the comedian said, “If you want to lose weight, never eat anything that comes in a bucket.”
CFA: less stores, open fewer days, and open less hours and still kicking the greasy chicken’s butt.
KFC reminds me of a back alley greasy spoon, and not in a good way. The greasy booger eating morons that work KFC have really sunk the place. They are always out of chicken. Every single ordered starts with, “Let me check to see if we have that ready right now.”
At least with CFA they have clean stores, available menu items, and smart and groomed workers.
CFA: Christian organization and it shows.
KFC: Liberal organization and it really shows.
Better food. Better service. Clean, bright friendly faces. Who wants some gold toothed, doo rag wearing “rapper” axing you if you want fries wif dat? I have money. I’m not giving it to KFC.
Our nearby KFC closed and Popeye’s took over, I haven’t had a lot of Popeye’s, looks like a good menu, I’d always go for their red beans and rice. We had a Church’s growing up, it was good. Kentucky really does have fried chicken places everywhere. KFC original recipe is good but I try not to eat too much fried chicken to begin with.
Popeye’s might have some fish cajun type foods, I forget.
