I thought “Scent of a Woman” was just awful.

I didn't see it, but I rolled my eyes at the previews, with Al Pacino chewing the scenery.

I didn’t think much of Scent of a Woman either but my nomination for most overrated movie ever goes to...get ready...Raging Bull.

What did he die from?

Apparently melanoma.

Holy smoke, my father has that. Actually they might have caught it in time because they cut it out and had him put this acid cream on on his face. Wow that is terrible, he must have put off getting a physical and by the time they caught it, it was too late.

Good actor. Unobtrusive in most of his movies, but he got the job done.

He made The Game almost worth watching in spite of Michael Douglas.

Wear sunscreen if your complexion is anywhere near as pale as his.

And stay on your meds if you've got what Frank and Carrie Mathison have.

Rebhorn had several very good guest spots on Law and Order, including a chilling initial appearance as an accountant with a very dark secret...

RIP.

Great actor. I really admire these guys (and gals) who aren’t stars, but steady, competent artists who really keep the wheels turning in movies and tv.

Man, that’s really too bad. He was a super nice guy. I was fortunate enough to meet him and watch him work for several days. He was fun and friendly with everyone, seemed very genuine.

I didn’t like Scent of a Woman either.

That film cried out for Duvall in the lead instead of that shameless ham Pacino. Would have made all the difference.

A friend of mine had it. Started as a lump on his face. Hospital lost the biopsy, and he was too busy to follow up promptly, being only 44 and at the height of a prominent career. Next thing you know, it had traveled to his brain.

My favorite part of Raging Bull is in the beginning when he argues with his wife over the steak. I also like the part where Joe Pesce beats the mobster up at the night club. I would rather watch Raging Bull then Taxi Driver. I found the first 3/4 of Taxi Driver hard to watch.

That’s what they told my father, that it gets into the bloodstream and they said just that - That it goes to the brain. Oh wow I assume your friend is no longer around? And they lose the biopsy, real nice. And only 44, that’s terrible. Like a lot of people when we are younger you get all these sunburns and tans but later on in life those skin cells start getting cancerous. My back for example is mole city so I always get it checked out.

To me trying to watch Raging Bull comes in a distant second behind watching paint dry.

He died within 18 months to 2 years of noticing the mole, at 45, and it rocked his many, many friends. He was a rising star and a well-known prosecutor in a major city. The funeral procession snaked out of sight in the rearview mirror. I was driving right behind the DA, who would one day become a state governor. He kept looking back as if counting the cars, wondering how many would be at his funeral someday.

Scent of a Woman was a piece of manipulative junk.
