Yesterday... Comcast cable...my internet service provider...for the TIME BEING....had a Planned Outage,...in order to upgrade equipment that services this area.
No Prior Notice was given to paying customers,
During my call to :customer service" Yesterday...no mention was made of that fact that this WAS a planned outage.
This Morning I experienced another Outage.
Today's call to comcast customer service was Unbearably frustrating.
The representative told me...that this was a planned outage...and an unplanned outage. AGAIN no announcement was made PRIOR to the outage. They do have an EMAIL SERVER dont they? Would it have taken a tremendous effort and great expense to ALERT CUSTOMERS of these matters prior to the planned outages?
Im in Marin County California, and looking for a better Service Provider.
Thank you
I do contact work for Comcast. Don’t lose your cool on the phone. Once you lose your cool they’ll hang up on you and note your account.
It makes no difference if you are nice with Concast. They do not care. They should care about who has paid them for many years, but they don’t.
This is a horrible company who needs regulation, but since they are run by libs, they are a scam.
Yeah, I do. I always chase down the jackass that thinks he’s the one to bully others. So screw off if you don’t like it. You post very little on FR and when you do it is to tell someone they are “mouthing off”. Just a nasty keyboard coward.
Sorry. I just get tired of hateful jerks with big mouths. Carry on.
Trust me I know, I have to deal with them everyday. Their customer service is rated lower than the IRS
I only speak from the professional expectations for myself. Not every business is actively engaged in "Customer Experience.
I was very polite, but extremely frustrated.
Two outages, two days in a row. Planned..but with no prior announcement seemed a bit much.
Sorry, I do not understand your post.
That was when virtually telephones were landlines. Cable still requires the use of a physical cable and that changes the economics.
Comcast is a public company.
whether the competition pays a fee for use of a land line or a cable line, what’s the difference?
You are absolutely correct sir that Comcast is a public corporation and I apologize for my laziness and trying to utilize my aging recall on this particular subject. I should have gone back and checked it out as it has been years since I visited the subject.
Notwithstanding the public corporation fact though, Comcast voting control is controlled by the leftist Roberts family.
In a Feb. 12, 2014 Voting agreement we see this. It reads in a very small part, to wit:
Voting Agreement
On February 12, 2014, concurrently with the execution of the Merger Agreement, TWC entered into a voting agreement with Brian Roberts and certain family trusts and investment vehicles which together hold approximately 471,435,749 shares of Comcast Class A Common stock and 9,444,375 shares of Comcast Class B common stock. Pursuant to the Voting agreement, each Principal Stockholder agreed , among other things, to vote all of its shares in favor of the stock issuance and against any actions that would impede the consummation of the merger.........
It goes on and on but simply put, the Roberts family and their trusts completely control Comcast and Brian Roberts himself is the largest shareholder in Comcast of Class A common stock at 33.1%. Ralph the dad is 93 years old and is Chairman Emeritus. Brian, 55, is CEO.
So, again, your right it is a public corporation but I am right that Brian Robert’s, a self proclaimed Obama lover and huge financial backer, and ORIGINAL supporter of Obamacare, controls Comcast. This means what our kids see on his channels has been washed through the Marxists and socialists that surround Obama each day.
The other half dozen or so major media companies are also controlled by far left jewish families. Why exactly that is, I don’t know. But, control of the media by far, far lefties is a fact and it is also a far bigger danger to this country than that punk Vladimir Putin and I look forward to the day that Freepers start speaking up regularly and forcefully about it!
There are many things legislatures and conservative local governments could do to gain some leverage on this subject but ALL OF US have just let the bastards run wild for decades!
Update....MONDAY March 24 ......modem recycling,....
Customer service says theres a new ongoing problem in “the area”
service will be restored by 2 AM although I’m obviously on at present.
3 out of the last four days....there have been outages.
I find this highly unprofessional for some reason
I agree LOL.
Verizon VIOS switched 4 years ago VERY HAPPY, all one bill land line,

some of us use the internet for Business.
comcasts about to lose mine
Yes, I know it was the broadband connection you were talking about. Sorry it has caused so much distress.
From day one, I have always had plans for backup access to the Internet, starting with the dial-up modem, on to Wimax service on the laptop, driving five miles to McDonalds for WiFi, finally to the smartphones and portable WiFi hotspot.
Sounds like you should have similar (depending what is available in your area) and maybe a different ISP if you can get one.
Verizon FiOS, one of the top 16 Internet pornography providers in the world!
I am strongly considering ATT.
I dont stream a lot of movies nor play games on the net so I dont need and extreme amount of speed.
What I dont get about comcast is their unwillingness to be forthright about these outages.
