Were they six-inches or a FOOT-long? Subway worker caught using the bread oven to dry her WET SOCKS and gloves after she posted a picture of it on her Instagram account.
Woman laid her soggy clothes on heated metal racks used to cook bread.
Jessica Hinton, a regular customer at the Subway store in the St John’s area of Worcester, spotted the image online and complained.
The 29-year-old was then offered vouchers by the store manager - who called her the next day.
And she was even private messaged on Facebook by the member of staff in question - who apologised and said her boss ‘didn’t think it fair I have wet feet for a nine-hour shift’.
After declining the vouchers, Jessica went into the store to speak to the manager in person who said the worker was made to apologise or face losing her job.
Bizarrely, the boss then offered the angry customer a Sunday job and two free six-inch sandwiches.
Miss Hinton said: ‘It came to light that a member of staff had gone to work after travelling through the Worcester floods and put her wet socks and gloves in their bread oven.
‘She then took pictures and posted them on Twitter and Instagram.
‘I complained and the manager of the store contacted me on my mobile the next morning stating that he was sorry and would send me vouchers in the post.
‘I clearly stated that I would not be going to their store again.
‘I put the phone down and five minutes later the staff member herself private messaged me on Facebook saying how truly sorry she and her boss were, that it was a stupid act, and that her “boss didn’t think it fair I have wet feet for a nine-hour shift”.’

What’s the big deal? I don’t see any bread in there, and they have to clean the oven after they use it anyway.
What other liberties is she taking with food prep areas?
Probably her first job would be to clean the bread oven.

Drying the socks is stupid or not, but taking photos and posting it online is STUPID, she should be fired just for that.

Yeah, but I think the real root cause is the manager, doesn't sound like he thought it was a big deal either, and then offering the customer a job? bizarre.

This is another example of the lack of planning any person under 40 has in America today.
1. There is flooding all over where this person is traveling.
2. It is very likely this person would get wet while commuting to work.
3. Actually TAKING a spare set of socks & gloves with them NEVER occurs to them!!!
I remember an old book called ‘connect the dots’—along with coloring books when I was a kid.
I don’t think there is one person in 10,000 under the age of 40 anymore who can CONNECT the dots.
I would have pitched a holy fit in that store & I would have called the health department on them.
That worker should get fired-—or given about 2 months off without pay to get their attention.
I often volunteer at local horse events. Riders compete—sun-rain-snow-wind-sleet——the event goes on. I plan ahead enough to take a variety of clothes I can take in my vehicle which I can layer on or take off as necessary. I don’t quit I go home & leave the management short-handed because the weather isn’t nice. But then, I was raised in Wisconsin, where every 20 minutes, you can have different weather & where there definately are 4 seasons. Our parents taught us much better.

The temperatures in the oven are going to kill most fungi and bacteria anyway.
The oven cleaned and run over a cycle where the metal temperature is over 200 degrees for over thirty minutes will just about kill every organism known. Raw meat is dirtier than the socks and ovens are used to cook meat in other ovens. Even though this is a bread oven the principles are the same. It was just stupid to picture this and put it on the Internet but the action was just as stupid and uncaring. The employee needs to be shown the door.

All fungi. All bacteria, I believe, with the exception of spore-formers. If you’ve got anthrax in the oven, you’ve got other problems.
