I adopted a barn kitten when he was 2 months old. That cat would catch elk if he could!
If only I lived nearby to take one (or two)
For a for ever home
Glad to hear about this, but it is not in my state.
I have two barn cats I am currently trying to place. All they need is shelter and a little food and water.
I actually tamed a feral tomcat.
Took me almost a year, finally he would jump into my lap for some lovin....he loved to be picked up and petted.
I was the only person he would allow such contact with though.
I never thought it would be possible.
He gave up trying to sharpen his claws on the furniture, fallen tree bark provided better materials.
He brought my mom a baby rabbit home as tribute once.
It has been so long since I adopted a cat. They usually appear spontaneously and move in.
A few years ago, we moved into a neighborhood with a very prolific feral cat. Eventually, we trapped her—she was too smart to be trapped, but her kitten helped—and had her fixed. Her last litter of kittens was about 4 months old. We took them in and tamed them. The two girls remain skittish, while the boy is the most friendly little guy. These “kittens” are now 9 years old.
Lets adopt a feral cat. They’re always fun.
UMMMM ....BARN KITTY....SKIN ‘EM OUT....ROLL ‘EM IN SMOKEHOUSE MAPLE RUB AND DUST EM UP WITH FLOUR....THEN FRY EM UP IN HOT PEANUT OIL. ADD PICKLES AND A COLD BEER AND YOU’VE GOT YOURSELF A NICE LUNCH...THE BEST..
My neighbor adopted a beautiful barn cat kitten who now terrorizes the other cats in the neighborhood. She’s made my cat’s life pure hell, to the extent that he doesn’t want to go outside any more. Some people say that barn cats can never be fully domesticated.
So please, keep your barn cats inside.
