The human race is on the brink of momentous and dire change. It is a change that potentially smashes our institutions and warps our society beyond recognition. It is also a change to which almost no one is paying attention. Im talking about the coming obsolescence of the gun-wielding human infantryman as a weapon of war. Or to put it another way: the end of the Age of the Gun.

So what are the drones going to carry? Pea shooters?
I'd recommend this book as a must-read. The human condition is shaped by its environment. Ours is a less individual world. People are in abundance for the tasks they must by accomplished by humans. It's all about controlling the population and the titans fighting for global dominance.
The really scary thing is to try to imagine what will follow the 500 or so years of the Age of Technology.
Rough landing: Camera drone sets down near Merkel
Security officer holding drone that activists landed within feet of German Chancellor Merkel. Imagine if this thing held, instead of a camera, an explosive charge?
Throw in George Soros, a couple of leading media powers and Hollywood moguls, a few famous professors, and there you have it!
The use of drones by Obama proves this trend is beginning
Rules of engagement cut both ways.
“They say the same thing with each new weapon. Truth is you cannot conquer territory without boots on the ground unless all you want is desolate territory. Tech can always be countered in some way.”
That’s right; technology was supposed to win in Vietnam, and it was beaten by motivated individuals with machine guns.
What is needed is a small fire control system that can detect and shoot any drone out of the sky when desired. It could use a powerful laser or particle beam vice bullets. Engineers get to work.
The thing that bothern me most is that the airspace over your real estate should belong to the owner, not the government.
bkmk
Based on the time difference between the ‘elites’ got access to firearms/cannons and when the average peasant was able to afford the same sort of tech, I’d say we only have a couple hundred years to wait.
Of course, they’re using OUR tax dollars to fund THEIR tech so it might be a bit longer.
And the elites of the middle ages didn’t view humanity as a whole as a cancer on the sacred Gaia either. They just wanted to suppress uprisings and kill rivals. Our elites just want us dead. All of us.
We have an oligarchic, plutocratic beaurotocracy.
Wealthy eltitists using faceless, unelected beaurocrats to invent, establish and implement public policy without public knowledge or consent or legislative endorsement.
I've been thinking more along the lines of the all seeing drone replacing the let no sparrow fall unnoticed God. (Who is dead according to some). That power/supervision vacuum got filled.
Human nature abhors a vacuum...
Right you are.
There’s already sufficient peasant buyable tech to assist the smokinggun.com peeps in any sort of mayhem they might choose to engage.
Lebensraum. It needs to be vacant. It helps if the infrastructure is intact.
Drones are worthless in 4th Generation Warfare.
It would be the equivalent of a cop sitting in his car in your driveway.
You know he shouldnt be doing it, and he knows it.
But both of you also know it will go very badly for you if you complain.
