Sarah Slocum loves her Google Glass. She wears the gadget on her face for more than 12 hours a day and enjoys showing others how to use it. With the wink of an eye, she can take a picture or use her voice to command it to record video. The device is, she says, the future.
So it was with some shock that she discovered there are those who disagree. Rather forcibly, in fact. On a recent outing to a bar in San Francisco, the 34-year-old technology writer says she was attacked by people who told her F--- Google!, accused her of killing this city and ripped the hi-tech gear from her head.
The incident has become a touchstone for a wider debate in San Francisco, where a section of the otherwise tolerant, liberal and peace-loving population appears to have had enough of the inexorable march of technology. Bars and coffee shops have begun putting up signs banning Google Glass devices. Special buses that take employees to work in nearby Silicon Valley have been picketed. Hundreds of demonstrators recently gathered outside Twitters headquarters to protest about tax breaks for the company. And, most of all, there is anger over spiraling rents and evictions as young tech workers colonize previously low-income areas.

Sort of a "New Orleans Mardi Gras-West", but year round, huh?
-— The interesting part of the story is that people that were being filmed by surveillance cameras at the bar and filming her on their cellphones -—
Don’t know if it’s true, but I heard that Glass uses facial recognition, so that by looking at a person you can get an instant biography. If true, it’s more than a bit creepy.
I'd like to know what's going on in those Google Mystery Barges
Weirder than that-MrT5 was stationed at the Presidio in the 80’s-I was here, as off post housing was budget busting-it was a show every time the soldiers they went off post to go to a restaurant, or shopping, in uniform or civvies, especially anywhere near the Castro district. Nearly every person he met who just went to SanFran as a tourist to see the Presidio also wanted to go to the Castro to see the flaming queens and all that...
I think that would largely depend on the cellphone you have it hooked to. It could do a facial rec against your FB/ Google+ friends, I suppose even hit major databases like IMDB on the off chance you’re meeting someone famous. It’s all about linked information, none of it is stuff you couldn’t already do with a smartphone, all the Glass does is provide another interface.
I would guess that a lot of them live in Section 8 housing, and pay no taxes. I took a look at a California Section 8 FAQ which I found for Santa Monica. A single person is eligible if he has an income under $29,550. He would pay 30% of his income for rent, with Section 8 making up the rest, BUT ONLY UP TO A MAX RENTAL amount.
If rents go up, a Section 8 renter may find himself with no available housing in the area, and have to move elsewhere.
What the SF Leftists are concerned about, is that SF might get to a tipping point where a majority of residents work in the private sector, and get fed up with how the Dem party is running the place.
“I’d like to know what’s going on in those Google Mystery Barges.”
Google had a tug tow that barge up the Delta into Stockton.
The people in Stockton acted like that was the most exciting thing to happen to them.
Wonder how long it will before a Googler gets mugged, stabbed, shot or all the above from just being in the Stockton port.
The Stockton port was so wild and wooly a couple of decades ago, Doctors, lawyers, accountants, pharmacists and other professionals often wore pistols at work and to and from their offices/work places back to their vehicles. Crime in Stockton during the Obzo era is much worse.
San Francisco has bigger problems than Google Glass. Or even Google. And has for a long time.
Dittos: “San Francisco is none of those things.
Some of the most violent, ideologically rigid and IN-tolerant people you will ever confront.”
These elite intolerant liberals have no problem telling us what to do 24/7 in our homes, workplaces and churches and monitoring us 24/7 to make sure we follow their demands.
However, they don’t want anyone to even monitor let alone record their behaviors.

I’m not an expert on buses, so you are probably correct. I just remember seeing buses like that around when I was a kid back in the 60s.
Getting information from the glasses would be no different than glancing at your speedometer or reading you water temperature gauge. My worse habit is fooling with the radio that can’t seem to display the radio frequency bright enough to read in daylight. I wish they had a set of glasses that would pop up car operation information at the command of your voice:
“Tire pressure—left front!”
“Miles per gallon!”
“Speed!”
“Fuel in gallons!”
“Engine temperature!”
“Battery voltage!”
“Radio frequency! Change to 101.5”
“Receive text message!”
“Send text message: You get the idea!”
Could you send a text message to her? Something like, “I want to kiss your lips!”
"Further," the bus in which Ken Kesey and the Merry Pranksters traveled the country beginning in 1964.
Why, that looks perfectly respectable.
More likely a DemonRAT donkey in need of teeth polishing; wearing new sporty Google sun glasses.
LOL! I was looking for horse-teeth-glasses pic but couldn’t find one. Good catch!
It makes me think that Google Glasses on the face of the Lefties in San Francisco would bring out the ass in them on they are.
