Several stunning images captured by a Minnesota photographer illustrate just how cold it is at Lake Superior.
The pictures taken by Andrew Krueger showed large sheets of ice piled up along the shore as temperatures remained below freezing this week.
Scientists from the Great Lakes Environmental Research Laboratory said ice coverage was at its highest percentage in 35 years, according to USA Today.
Persistent cold temperatures in the Midwest this winter have almost completely frozen over many of the Great Lakes, the lab reportedly said in a press release.
Oh I know. I have been writing about that stupidity for well over a decade. Time Magazine even ripped me for it back in 98 or so. Look up Wildlands Project and “Turtle Island”. then understand it’s UN approved.
From 09.
Strong winds push ice (sometimes 12 FEET) into beachfront homes along Saginaw Bay (CAPTION!)

Look at all that open water on Lake Ontario. How will the polar bears be able to get across the lake? They’ll starve.
Probably a combination of things. Lower altitude, currents, closer to the ocean, depth.
Glad the Chode Man is back. On a recent thread 3 attempts by the Chode Man failed to materialize. Didn’t pay your electric bill?
i've been using it for a few months now after hitting the bandwidth limit at photobucket and maybe they are getting hammered from it too
Then it is out of context for the premise of the thread (superior). While bastardi may be right about total ice cover, yor original reply didn’t leave that impression within this thread’s context.
I’m not trying to pick a fight or troll here. It’s just that a little more precision would’ve been nice.
Saginaw Bay is going to be frozen until the middle of summer.
We’re gonna have dirty piles of snow till June.
Elevation difference perhaps?
It wouldn’t necessarily be a bad thing if you ever uploaded a pic of Six from Tripping the Rift as well. Just sayin’
Not sure if you were saying that in jest but that is how ice ages generally begin. If ice does not melt until mid-summer, than it is much quicker to freeze back up the following year. Once you get to the point that the lakes no longer completely thaw, a tipping point is reached and the ice age begins in earnest.
I'm not going to panic like Al Gore but it does bear watching to see how quickly things freeze back up next winter.
Half-jest. Saginaw Bay is incredibly shallow, freezes over very quickly but can be counted on to thaw fairly quickly as well. I don’t see this year’s thaw as something that can be counted on happening until late spring—which figures, since some old high school pals and I are having a mini-reunion in Caseville mid-May. The Bay will still have ice chunks floating around, that’s my guess.
10 years ago global warming scientists said that by now snow would be rare and winters would be warm
global warming is a hoax
democrats created this hoax to grow socialism/government and to destroy capitalism/freedom
