but we teach our officers that they need to protect themselves in all situations,
The important thing is, the officer went home safe /s
None of these dog killings and most of the unnecessary shootings wouldn’t happen if all policemen were required to carry tasers.
In the article it states that the leash was long enough so that the dog could have reached him.
One day one of these dog-killing turds isn’t going to go home to his family.
He was threatened by a lab on a leash and “we train our officers” and “he did what he had to do” ?! Really ?! This is right out of Naked Gun 33 1/3.
Folks the training is the issue and its now risen to the supervisor level.
Is shooting puppies now the way of the men in blue ?
There have simply been way to many stories like this.
Now watch all these irrational dog lovers try to growl and bite at all police officers. If these people were dogs, they would be shot as well.
**...McGlones friend Ron Montana buried Scarlett on Wednesday afternoon in her backyard, under a tree...**
Be grateful Ms. McGlone that you could bury Scarlett in your yard.....here in CT...that is against the law.
I would have a real tough time controlling myself if some jerk shot my dog.
Read the story and can see there are two sides to it. I too have a trolley line for my big dog. She barks but is a sweetheart and when I walk her I let the neighborhood kids pet her.
One thing that I highly recommend, even for a dog on a trolley line, is a “Beware of Dog” sign on the fence. Whether its a deterrent to crooks or just a warning to visitors, it tells them to be careful as even a friendly dog will protect its home from strangers by at least barking or alerting.
The police officer thought the dog was carrying a concealed weapon?
Oh Lordy
“When Reed turned the corner of the back of the house to knock on a window, there were no signs of a dog in the backyard, Brandon said. Its possible that Scarlett was in her doghouse on the other end of the yard”
Don’t the teach “situational awareness” anymore ? Or is it just “shoot everything and deny it later” now ?
Is it me or are we become a nation of wimps?
Dogs obviously are easier to domesticate than some humans.
Have cops quit carrying pepper spray?
Would it not make sense when entering a backyard for a welfare checks etc., to take a taser along for safety, just in case a pet was in the back yard and to avoid shooting rounds off in a neighborhood?
How complex is this?
I take it the cop is too stupid to realize the length of leashes limits how far a dog can “lunge.”
What else is missing from the story?
Does this Keystone Kop ever chase real criminals? If so, does he rely on them making their presence and location clear in advance, since he's too inept to survey the scene before going in?
You must watch this one to the end to appreciate it....
It’s an old Reno 911 episode clip where the police shoot the dog.... must watch to see why it is so funny

I guess the concept of private property outside, and sometimes inside, the house is a lost concept. Police should not be able to freely, without warrant, go into someone’s fenced yard (unless it is the only entry to the front door), but that idea is antithetical to today’s government agents.
