LAKE ELSINORE: Girl Scouts receive counterfeit bills, woman sought
Some Inland Girl Scouts got a hard life lesson this week when they discovered their cookies had been paid for with counterfeit bills.
Scouts in Lake Elsinore received two fake $20s on Thursday, Feb. 27, and in Rancho Cucamonga on Saturday there were two reports of girls selling cookies who were paid with counterfeit $50s.
Riverside County sheriff’s officials on Tuesday released surveillance images of a woman they described as a “person of interest” in the Lake Elsinore case and are asking for help from the public to identify her.
The fraud was reported Thursday night outside the Stater Bros. supermarket at Lakeshore and Riverside drives, sheriff’s officials said.
But it appears the person who passed the bills didn’t receive any change — just $40 in cookies, Lt. Dave Knudson said.
It was unclear whether the person who bought the cookies was aware the bills were counterfeit.
Knudson said deputies are investigating other similar incidents in the Lake Elsinore area.

I think this was the dead giveaway when the scouts looked closely at the bills ...
Lake Elsinore used to be full of meth labs and tweakers.
I can only guess at what the perp looks like.
Oh, a woman in the 250-300lb. range.
Scummy in appearance, wearing a too tight T-shirt, sweat pants, and smelling of cigarette smoke.
Any distinguishing features?
Yeah, she had several tattoos.
Can you recall any of the markings?
I think she had her children's birthdates on her arms and neck. I can't be sure.
Well...the girl scouts is after-all, now a counterfeit organization.
