They're already called 'vertically challenged' - but are short people intellectually challenged too?

They are already cursed with the rather unflattering label of ‘vertically challenged’. Now experts say short people may also be intellectually challenged too - or at least in comparison to their taller counterparts. A new study has found a link between IQ and height, suggesting that those who are shorter are on average more likely to be less intelligent. Academics identified genes that influence both height and IQ, and said there was a ‘significant genetic correlation’ between the two factors.

They got lil’ baby legs
they stand so low
You got to pick em up
just to say hello

Still one of my favorite songs - and I’m short

Any suggestion that some group may have lower IQ is forbidden.
However, I would not be surprised to learn that height and overall HEALTH has a positive correlation, and health in turn has a positive correlation with most other good features.

From an anthropological sense it makes sense, greatest chance for the species to survive - strength and brains

Interesting about that, is that when Asians come to the US where there is a greater variety of food, and more of it, it takes only one or two generations and the children are on average the same height.
Then when you go to Asia the tallest people are the leaders

Americans are bigger than ever - taller with enormous strength (think of the knock-out game that can kill with one blow). And yet we see a constant dumbing down of the average American. This sounds pretty bogus to me.

One of the most badass people I’ve ever met was Drill Instructor SGT Dicks. Parris Island, 1989.

My siblings and I purchased the 45 of that song for our vertically challenged mother, back in the day!

(Well - I was still a preteen, so I guess I should say I freeloaded on my siblings purchase... LOL)

I have found the opposite to be true.

Tall people get social advantages of being tall, so they get lazy mentally. They can get by being tall so their mind gets lazy.

Furthemore, I find the view from above to be a view that is easier to analyze situations. And the view from below to be more challenging. So I think tall people’s minds are again less challenged.

Furthermore, I think tall people can move their legs slower to go the same distance. Slow moving legs would tend to produce slow moving brain reaction time.

Or you are seeing a trend back to our roots
Different people groups needed different skills to survive, and one people group has re-isolated by choice are they just returning to that need

My wife is 5’2” and spends most of her life waiting for the rest of us to catch up with last week’s conversation. I’m 6’5” tall and can’t out think the plastic packaging on a new tool for the hardware store.

Weird.

If there’s a question mark in the title, the answer to the question is always “No.”

There are a lot of short people out there. I’m 5’11, and a former Marine, so bring it on.

I’m only 4’10”. Despite my lack of height, I am definitely more intelligent than my 6’6” ex-husband. My daughter is 4’10” and tested in the 99th percentile when they didn’t know what to do with her in school. My sons are both over 6’ and quite intelligent although nothing like my daughter. This study is a crock.
