A husband and wife who rented the house of a Colorado resort town socialite are accused of killing her and leaving her body in a closet after she returned home from an overseas vacation.
Nancy Pfister, 57, was the daughter of the late Betty and Art Pfister, longtime prominent Aspen residents who co-founded the Buttermilk ski area west of town. Buttermilk Mountain has hosted the Winter X Games multiple times.
On Monday evening, authorities arrested William F. Styler III, 65, and Nancy Christine Styler, 62, at the Aspenalt Lodge in Basalt, where they were staying after apparently moving out of Pfisters two-garage, two-story Aspen home Feb. 22. Both face first-degree murder charges.

William Styler is a doctor who graduated from Oklahoma State Universitys College of Osteopathic Medicine, according to healthgrades.com. According to the Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies, his physicians license in the state was issued in 2003 and expired two years later.
DiSalvo said the couple, after living in the Castle Rock area, began renting from Pfister in either late November or early December. She is the daughter of late longtime Aspen residents Betty and Art Pfister, co-founders of the Buttermilk ski area.
A woman who answered the phone on Monday at the employment agency Aspen Work Force said workers from the business moved the couples possessions out of Nancy Pfisters home on Feb. 22. A man whom she said led the moving job then came on the phone and declined further comment.
DiSalvo would not confirm that the suspects moved out that day.
But on her Facebook page, Pfister wrote from Australia on Jan. 21 that her renters were moving out Feb. 22. On Jan. 24, Pfister elaborated on the problems she was having with the Stylers, writing that the people that were supposedly taking care of my house are not doing what they said they would do and theyre not paying rent and they havent paid utilities.

horrid... right out of the Life Time movie channel...
Yes, Lifetime and Investigative Discovery Channel (a fave of mine).
Now that MooseShell goes there? Not so much.
what a crappy country we have become....now the 65yros are killing people...
My first thought as well. Why would a dude that old be interested in killing someone? It doesn't make any sense.
You know that "liberalism is a mental illness" thing?
It's true.
Yeah, maybe the schmuck was a liberal.
Hard to say if the couple made the typical 8 Day Rule or if they actually stayed out of jail for 9 days after their stupid murder, but the timeline is close either way.
Most felons are criminally stupid.
Well, living in Aspen, I just assumed...
You probably assumed right.
I would put money on it. He rented a place from a rich person figuring he could, and deserved to, skip out on the bill...
Horrible.
Sentinarian on Sentinarian murder.
These old people are gonna have to clean up their culture if they want to be seen as equal and peaceful members of society in general .
Until then we should have them drug tested if they want welfare and social security. Their eyesight tested and mandatory driving tests every two years.
Further, Sentinarians need to speak up about violence, as well as the compulsions for abusing Metamucil.
They make me sick and if I can’t cross the street them I see them hurriedly scurrying on their walkers I’m definitely on guard and usually wish I carried hot tea, a blanket and Alteril to incapacite them and end their slow scooting, stalking.
It’s sometimes difficult to walk briskly when I attempt to evade them as they grab at me with Polident affixed to their hands, as if they are going to stick to me I attempt their clammy grasp.
Makes me shudder when I think about keeping my guard up as I pass the assisted living complex tomorrow.
It’s really only the path to take as i leave my home and go downtown.
I’ve made it so far.
Wish me luck.
Well they won’t have to worry about a place to live anymore, this one will be provided by the Colorado taxpayers.
