A memorial is growing near where a young woman was shot dead by police after she rammed them with her car.
It all started as a fight with her grandmother, friends say.
She has a 4-year-old son that doesnt know and is gonna grow up not knowing who his mom is, said Hailey Krause, the womans friend.
Friends and family rushed to the scene near Sunset and San Juan Avenues Sunday afternoon after finding out they knew the woman shot and killed by Citrus Heights police.
Her and her grandma got into argument and she went and took her grandmas keys, and her grandma told her not to and left and her grandma called the cops, Krause said.
Police tracked the car to Citrus Heights using a LoJack device. They tried to pull her over, but police say she refused to stop instead ramming her car into their patrol car and then leading officers on a high-speed chase.
She was driving recklessly on the wrong side of the road and, in these weather conditions, [it] put a lot of peoples lives in danger, said Officer Bryan Fritsch with the Citrus Heights Police Department.
Investigators say the suspect then rammed a patrol car again and thats when officers opened fire.
After they let up all the shots, the car was still running. Like, she was slumped and her foot was stuck on the gas, said Osyrus Williams, who saw the incident unfold.
She rammed two patrol vehicles with officers in them and they did fear for their life, Fritsch said.
Officers say the woman died at the scene.
A photo of the scene taken by a CBS13 viewer shows a silver Lexus against a Citrus Heights police car a deadly end that began as a fight with a family member.
They were close. Her grandma takes care of her son and she looks at her like her mom, Krause said.
The womans identity has not been officially released.
Too late for Darwin Award.
I’m usually anti-cop on these threads, but if the facts are as written, it sounds like a righteous shoot to me.
My first instinct these days is to wonder if the cops story is true
Another grandma who needs her head examined. Apparently she's on her 3rd generation. Sick.
A Lexus with a LoJack . . . not your typical trailer park squabble. The same factors that led to the child not having a mother in his life may also explain part of the reason why tehre is no evidence that there is a father in his life, either.
“... her grandma called the cops ...”

Thanks, Grandma!
Stupidity runs in the family.
I wonder what would or wouldn’t have happened if Granma hadn’t called the cops?
I’m with you. I’ll add, though, that this is not the first thread on FR about a person calling the cops on a family member and the family member was killed by the cops.
Calling the cops should be an absolute last resort.
You would doubt Osyrus???
Oh absolutely. burglary? Not unless I go over the deductible on my insurance by a substantial amount. Dead perp in my house? Yeah, they can dispose of the body. Live perp in my house? See dead perp in my house.
This story reminds me a bit of the woman that rammed her car into the White House gates a few months back.
yes.
if it comes to that maybe calling for an ambulance/fire dept is better.
Things are so dangerous these days police have to kill people to protect them.
I'm sure the 911 operator asked if she had a weapon.
Let's hear the 911 call. Something is wrong here.
33 years ago this month a lunatic shot the POTUS, one of his top aides, and a Secret service officer. He was taken alive and received a fair trial.
50 years ago, when Dallas was still a wild cow town, a nut killed the President and a cop. He was taken alive.
That was a heck of a country we had. We’ll never see it again.
I disagree. He was giving a slap on the wrist.
