FR can be extremely frustrating at times but does serve a useful purpose. The first rate news comes mostly without bias and is faster than any main stream news outlet.

Looking at your posting history I see why you dislike it here, you are a social liberal, and call yourself a libertarian.
No wonder conservatism sticks in your craw.
But I would suggest to you that FR still has many advantages that make it worthwhile:
1.FR is a superb source of news, hard news..when something happens, momentous or trivial, anywhere in the world, you can usually read about it here first,and find out what's really going on.
2. As a group, Freepers are without a doubt the most knowledgeable people on earth. You can almost instantly find the answer to just about any question.
3. FR proves every day that conservatives are among the funniest people around, with a superb sense of humor. And we need that to cope with the ever increasing mess around us.
So, what's a guy/gal to do?
Actually, it's quite easy. It's something I decided to do about 10 years ago.
Anyone who's ever received an obscene phone call will tell you that the single most effective technique to deal with it is to ignore them, quickly hang up. Don't respond, don't yell, don't curse...that's what they want, they get off on it. Ignore them, and they'll go away..turn their attention to someone else.
The same applies here, and works equally well. When someone calls you out, says something dumb, whatever...ignore them. Don't bother to respond, don't try to convince them..show them the error of their thinking. You can't open a closed mind. Don't even waste your time.
Enjoy FR for the many advantages. Engage in discourse with those you respect, whose comments you appreciate, who can teach you something. Post what you will, and respond to those you choose. Ignore all the others.

If they want to take you to task and blow your doors off, they tend to gang up, ping their lists, ping JimRob, and execute you on the spot.
It has happened to me countless times now.....I no longer keep track of it.
The best thing to do is walk away, take a few weeks off the forum and recompose yourself. You gain a certain amount of hardness and maybe little bit of hubris, every time this happens and it makes you better...stronger, smarter about arguments but not infallible.

The place is still a great source for info and instant news, and even if there are what seems to be people who want to purge you for having thoughts different from theirs. Even such a minor thing like your opinion of one politician. It's a good thing to know this and understand it. It will help you when times are tough and you might be called on to lead a group of people. Individuals are generally like cats. They like to be together but can't stay together long without a fight.. This is where a good leader or mentor is said to be better than another when they can manage these issues and not lose their perspective. Because that is how people are. Even those with common ideals. And you have to deal with it as a leader.

I supported Palin with enthusiasm from the get go..her first major speech brought tears to my eyes
But I found over time that while I adore her that she has definitely said or done things I don’t think are good for our cause or her trajectory.
There is a clique here that brooks absolutely zero dissent over Palin...none zip and will run together and ping JR begging for a zot so they can all high five in glee.....like little bully kids.....JR to his credit usually ignores their pleas except the notorious pissant episode
That aspect of this forum ...the pack attacks....over not just Palin but anything that generates rigid group think is a downside....we need uniformity to a point but not in my opinion over someone who didn’t even run....after acting like she would for years

Its not just about Palin though....the same crowd moved on to Cain and this predates all that....even though now criticizing Bush is the norm it was once zottable and brought harpies down on you quick

My personal opinion is dissent should be tolerated in primaries but given this conservative versus RINO dynamic so heady now..

Even though I would tend to disagree with you on Sarah Palin, that’s just part of being on a discussion forum, and your opinion is as valid as anyone else’s opinion.
Would rather you stayed and hashed it out. There will always be disagreements, and disagreeable people; but the free exchange of ideas, opinions, and thoughts is what makes us all better.
Your comments can change peoples’ minds, educate folks, and influence them to do better, be better, be stronger.
Your voice is important. You fought for the right to voice yourself; you, more so than many others, should be speaking up.
So please reconsider.
